Beginning piano. Studying piano with me is helpful if you like to sing and/or if you want to play without thinking a lot about music theory. I can get your playing to a certain level, where you are able to play songs in a few styles, sing while you are playing, play with ease, write your own compositions and have fun while you are making music!

About Christine
Christine has been a professional in the theatre since 1992. She received her training from Boston Conservatory and New York University and has been a company member in Tony-award winning regional theatres.

Christine specializes in vocal production, has a three-octave range and is adept at various character voices, accents and musical styles. She has sung in several musicals, wedding and church bands, and has given several solo performances since her childhood.

Christine's personal developments are around creating new musicals, composition, songwriting and exploring fusion methods in several musical styles including pop, jazz, rock, blues, neo-soul, new age, electronica, experimental and ethnic music.

Christine also plays piano, rhythm guitar and percussion, and has served as a director, soloist and accompanist for severa
l churches and community efforts.

*** Lesson Details ***
Making music and singing should be fun, and everyone deserves to have a great experience with their instrument for the rest of their lives. I take pride in guiding my students in exploring their potential in a safe, creative and non-judgmental environment. My students will learn to develop courage and confidence, grow their ears and appreciation for music in all its forms, and expand their range, power and musical skills.

Your lessons will be tailored according to your goals, dreams and personal motivation. I will offer you resources and show you how to use research as way to become independent when preparing your lessons, auditions and performances. If you are an aspiring guitarist/songwriter, I will teach you the basics of playing the guitar and offer you fun techniques to build those callouses, play rhythmically with confidence and coordinate your playing with your singing.

Whether you are completely inexperienced, naturally gifted, shy, ambitious about a professional career or just looking for an outlet that feels good, I am here to help you. You will not only learn technical skills and many tricks for beating stage fright and crafting a performance, but you will also learn to share your unique personality on stage, and learn to perform with feeling, heart and honesty.

Everyone has something beautiful and wonderful to offer the world and I look forward to meeting you and discovering your special voice and sound!

*** Studio Equipment ***
My lessons are conducted in my home in an open living room area. I have a keyboard and a guitar. You must bring your own guitar (an acoustic or acoustic electric - sorry, I do not teach lessons with electric guitars) and, if you have "accompaniment" karaoke CDs (or mp3 on your phone or laptop) and/or sheet music that you have been working with, I encourage you to bring those.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Home lessons are negotiable and I would bring a guitar and/or a percussive instrument. Your home must have a room where lessons can be conducted free from distraction (incl. pets and siblings) and have enough space for exercises and instruments. It must also be in-view of the family and have an open. Group lessons are negotiable. :-)

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in singing, songwriting, voice, speech and acting. I also teach beginning lessons in guitar and piano. Other specializations: International Phonetic Alphabet, Accent Reduction, Musical Theatre, Classical Theatre (Shakespeare, Greeks), Movement Theatre (Mime, Period Movement, Stage Combat), Singing Styles (Jazz, Pop, Rock, Classical, Gospel, Musical Theatre, Sacred Chant).

I teach beginning piano to students who are trying to learn musicianship for fun or for use in music theory or for help learning other instruments.

I also teach students for the CM and ABRSM exams and can teach serious classical music at any level when requested by parents.

I try to approach piano for young students in a fun manner so they will like to practice on their own while continuing to reach their goals.

I love to teach students of any age, but I specialize in teaching 4-12 year olds how to play.

I teach multiple subjects in the schools, as well, and I believe it is important to foster a child's growth of not just music but of learning any subject through what they learn in piano from finding patterns, focus, musical understanding and expression, through to time management. My goal is to get students to develop both their creative and their analytical abilities.

*** Lesson Details ***

As a HARP teacher, all of my
students play scales, arpeggios, and technical exercises in
their lessons. I believe having a strong technical base is the foundation for
every part of playing and you can't learn without it. I will set the repertoire
for students according to their technical progress and although I may
take into consideration a student's desires to learn a certain piece, there has
to be time and they have to be ready for it. I have both short term and long
term goals for each student that involve theory, technical ability, and
repertoire: fun, orchestral and solo. Adult students still have to learn
technique, it makes things much more fun and easy six months later, I promise! Beginning students will learn how to read notes, understand basic theory, and technique in a short amount of time, so don't be scared if you have never had a music lesson before.

I require all students make
at least half an hour a day commitment to practice. I teach mostly the Grandjany method of harp technique, however, I also use Salzedo and Renie methods
at times to fit a particular students' build and unique physical attributes as well as what the piece requires. I
have studied all techniques throughout my education and I find them all
beneficial for different reasons. I do, however, believe everyone is built
differently and the technique should help the harpist play and not hinder them
from achieving their goals. Everyone learns at a different speed, but as a
brand new musician, after six months practicing regularly, you should be able
to read music fluently, understand basic theory concepts, be able to play with
both hands and four fingers on each hand, play all of the basic scales and
arpeggios musically and be able to play at least one piece memorized.
Curriculum is based on the student's technical ability and issues and is
individually created – if you learn slower than someone else, don’t worry about
your pace. In the end, lessons are about you personally and not someone else.

As a PIANO teacher, I want students to learn about music and not just the piano. Students will learn basic music theory and basic scales as a part of their lessons. They will also occasionally choose a song of their choosing to work on chords. I do promote note reading and theory, so I am not the right teacher for students who don't want to invest time in learning the basics. These basics are the building blocks of all music and can be used for any instrument the student chooses to learn in the future.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have harps and a piano at my studio, so you do not need to bring your harp to lessons. If you don't own a harp, you can rent one for around $45/month from several sources.

*** Specialties ***
HARP - Grandjany Technique with an incorporation of Salzedo and French school depending on the player's body type and technical difficulties. I make use of the ABRSM as well as local, national, and international competitions depending on the student's level of commitment.

PIANO - I teach basic piano for fun through an Intermediate level. Although some students choose to take CM and ABRSM exams, I do not push them. I want students to enjoy piano and music lessons.

I teach beginners to intermediate. The goal is to teach them how to read music and rhythm and develop good piano technique. My background is mostly in the Classical genre, however the goal is to become accomplished so that you can play anything.

About Gary
Dear Prospective Student,

My name is Gary. I started out playing the Bagpipe in High School as we were the "Highlanders" and had a bagpipe band as part of the marching band. I competed in solo competitions played my way to the top. As I will be 60 this year, I have been playing for 45 years and teaching full time for the last 20 years. I am very fortunate to be making a good living doing work that I love to do.

You need 3 things to learn the bagpipe. The first thing that you don't need is a set of bagpipes to get started. That purchase happens with most of my students between the 8th and the 12th month of lessons. My average student will spend between $1500 and $2000 on their pipes. Start saving now. The only thing that you need are a Practice Chanter, a book and 30 minutes with me once a week. I have the Practice Chant
ers and Books. Don't buy anything until we meet. To get started book 4 lessons with me. If you have any questions please feel free to email me through this website. I look forward to working with you.

I have developed a system for pianists that can increase efficiency of learning up to five times based on the development of three essential skills. I find students are able to progress more quickly with far better results when they consistently apply the skills of focus, beat dominance, and hand positioning using the practice method I teach.

About Jonathan
I'm available for in-studio and online lessons and coaching.

***I am excited announce this year that four of my students were invited to audition for the NATS national level competition after having placed first, second, and third at the regional level. Two were accepted. Out of the 219 students at the audition one of my students placed first. Congratulations Laura, Mariel, Garrett, and Greer.***

I hold a BA and MMus in voice performance and have been teaching privately and in schools for over 15 years. I currently hold adjunct professorships at Clemson University and at Anderson University. In addition to private voice, piano, and instrumental instruction I have taught bands and choirs on multiple levels for 12 years. I feel my breadth of experience has enabled me to develop a deeper understanding of common learning traits and focus
on skill based learning.

I'm comfortable teaching students of all ages including special needs students, and I have developed a practice method that triples the efficiency of each hour of practice time.

You're likely to hear me say:

"Practice makes permanent."

"If a student isn't having fun, I'm doing something wrong"

"If it sounds good, it is good."

I have been playing the piano for over 16 years. I love teaching piano, especially to younger students. My beginning students learn to identify notes on the piano, read music notes, and learn simple songs. As they progress, they will learn more difficult songs and will understand more about music theory. Piano is a great starting instrument because it builds the foundation for note-reading and tunes the ear for music.

About Priscilla
Hi! My name is Priscilla. I have been playing the violin for more than 13 years and have been teaching for about six years. I have also been playing the piano for a number of years. I graduated from Pensacola Christian College in May 2015 with a B.S. in English Education and Music. Teaching violin is one of my favorite things to do! I love teaching piano as well, especially to younger students.

I also do English tutoring. I absolutely love grammar, so if you are having trouble in that area, I can help make grammar fun for you!

I have been studying music for well over a decade. I have had some amazing teachers/mentors along the way. Why Misha stands out as the best among them, is because he is able to get the best out of his students. He knows how to push you to be better without feeling like you're being pushed. He's extremely encouraging. He can immediately identify where your weaknesses are and give you tools/exercises to correct them. For me, piano is not even my primary instrument, however, the growth I've achieved from his lessons have equally applied to my other instruments. If you are looking to be a better musician, let alone pianist, you are lucky to have found Misha.

I have been studying with Misha for a few year now. He will tailor the lesson based on your skill level. You will feel some improvement in no time. The lesson is fun but will help your eliminate your weakness and bring you to the next step. You can pick your own song and he will arrange the song and play with you. Misha can play drum along with your piano or you can comp and he will show you how to improvise. Just try him a few lessons and you will thank me for it.

Hey! Thanks for checking out my profile! I am an aspiring Music Therapist and Composer at Converse University. I have over 15 years of piano experience, and play 6 other instruments as well. I try my best to find ways to make lessons productive and fun, because I have been in student's shoes. I know how boring scales can be, and how hard it can be to find time to practice. I employ creative methods and games to motivate students of all ages and experiences levels to achieve the highest level of musical fluency. Since I am a composer, I have access to music software to notate songs at each student's individual level, as well as give lessons in composition. Feel free to message me with more questions! Thank you :-)

About Sarah
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my profile.

My name is Sarah, and I am a Music Therapy and Composition student at Converse. I have over 15 years of experience in piano, and play six other instruments as well. I have a passion for music, and love merging that passion with my love of teaching and helping others.

What makes my teaching style unique is that I can relate to students. I have been there, so I know how it feels. I know how practicing can be boring or frustrating, and how it can be hard to find time to practice. Using this experience I employ unique games and exercises to help motivate my students to get over these obstacles and succeed to the highest level.

Another thing that makes me unique is the fact that I am a composer. I have access to composition software, and can use that to transpose or compose music that is indiv
idual to every student's level. (This also cuts down on book costs at times.)

Overall, I just want to see my students happy and thriving in their love for music! Feel free to message me for details or if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you!
