About Liza
I have been professionally singing and taking voice lessons since the age of 9! I went through various styles in my love and performance of music, starting with the Beatles, Aretha Franklin and all of Motown, Jazz (Ella Fitzgerald), R&B, and Classical/Opera (starting when I was in high school and attending Interlochen Arts Camp)...

Having received a Bachelor's of Music in Voice (Music Theatre Performance) from NYU, I stayed in NYC after graduation performing in musical theatre and theatre.

In 2009, I decided to apply to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, with the intent to broaden my range of skill and opportunity as a performer, but also with the intention to teach, with the higher degree strengthening this possibility. I began to teach voice lessons to fellow students while at LAMDA. When I returned to NYC, I began to
build my own voice studio in of post-graduate students and adults looking to further develop their vocal practice or begin a vocal practice. I found that in my vocal lessons, I was using physical exercises as for the actor, to incorporate in my private teaching method. I believe in doing, not only watching and observing. This, in conjunction with movement and full-body execution, opens the student vocally and emotionally. I chose to go to LAMDA because the classical training and approach to theatre training in England is extremely physical. They work from the outside in, and I find that the language of the body is universal to students of any intellectual capacity, and I strive to bring this into my approach in any type of teaching format!

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach voice lessons to adults and young students who are beginning their vocal training practice, as well as those who are accomplished singers and performers and want to take their singing and performance to the next level! I use my skills as an accomplished vocalist and teacher to empower my students to find their own voice and learn to express a story through song. I enable my students to hone their craft and find their own style of expression through the exploration of music in a multitude of genres and cultures.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Stuyvesant style piano in my home studio. I also have a vast collection of repertoire.

*** Specialties ***
Singing for Music Theatre / Broadway
Singing Pop/Rock/R&B
Singing Jazz
Singing Original Material (Singer/Songwriter)

She was the best instructor ever! I already had an experience as a vocal in a band, but through her voice training I actually was able to extend my voice range. Also as a non-native English speaker, I found it very helpful when she guided me with more accurate English pronunciation of the lyrics.

About Ethan
Whether I am playing salsa, solo classical piano, in a jazz ensemble, or a concert band, I am ALWAYS having fun doing what I love, and I want you to have the same experience. After moving to Philadelphia ten years ago to study at Temple University, where I received my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, I have had many great opportunities to play all types of music with all types of people. While my passions are in jazz music, composing, and arranging, my varied experience helps me pass on the fundamentals necessary to becoming a great musician while also adapting to your goals, needs, and musical preferences.

*** Lesson Details ***
I want you to have a fun, loving relationship with music. I aim for students to leave each lesson eager to practice and explore, and to come back with questions and stories of their progress. In each
lesson, I balance technical skills, ear training, and music theory to assure that each student walks away a complete musician, all structured around your musical goals.

I look forward to helping you on your musical journey.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The student must provide their own instrument and assigned method books. I will provide a music stand if necessary, and other useful instructional tools (metronome, tuner, etc.)

*** Home Studio ***
I offer lessons in my home located just off of Broad Street in South Philadelphia near the Tasker-Morris subway stop. I am equipped with a well-playing upright piano and plenty of space for musical activities. There is ample street parking in the area during the afternoon and early evening, and our living room is available to parents while students take their lesson. Students who travel to me for lessons gain all the benefits of performing on a piano, rather than an electric keyboard, and have access to many more resources that I am able to offer from my home, such as recordings and method books.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize teaching younger students fundamentals in music in a fun and exciting way, as well as teaching the importance of learning music to exceed personal and educational goals.

We (me and my 6 year old daughter) have taken piano lessons for more than 1 year now, and it has been amazing experience for both of us. He is very knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic music teacher. We had no experience to start with, but now both of us are comfortable with the instrument and the music notes. He is very flexible with his teaching style to accomodate personal preferences and levels.
I would certainly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn piano.

Both me and my daughter have been taking piano lessons from Ethan since last 8 months. He is an amazing teacher and has proved beyond doubt, that he can teach music to a person of any age. He is very adaptable to our specific goals and works alongside, as per our capacity to help us achieve what we intend to. I had no experience with music or piano whatsoever before this and started the lessons to learn a new skill. Over the months, I have not only developed interest in piano but also been able to play with confidence. I had experience with couple of more teachers before we got him, and he is certainly the best. Would highly recommend him.

About Ekanem
Singing? Been on stage or in choir or just getting ready for your dream? I'll get you there!

I have 9 years studio experience helping performers translate the musical passion they feel in practice to shining success on stage, behind the mike, and in auditions.

Singers feel in charge of shaping their performance and more aware of their bodies after the first lesson with me.

I have taught singing and ear training to adults and children at schools, education conferences, churches, orchestras, and private studio.

Credentials: Gordon Institute for Music Learning Mastership Certification, 2009; Doctoral candidate, psychology and teaching of music, expected 2019.

Reviews from other students:

Caroline V.
“Loved the lesson! I came to Ekanem because I love listening to music but I'm uncomfortable in front of the microph
one. Before we worked together I had tried to identify singers in my pitch range to avoid selecting the wrong karaoke song. I even took lessons with other teachers but they just told me what to do, and I followed. This is the first time a vocal instructor tried to understand why I was doing what I did and explained how different options would impact my tone. It felt like a customized lesson. The warm ups and practices were very creative and thoughtfully planned. I learned that singing loud doesn't mean I have to strain my vocals. I also learned how thinking of different emotions changes the tone of my voice throughout the song. At the end I felt calm, encouraged, and hopeful. I really enjoyed it.”

Danette S.
“Through the first 30 minute session that we had I was able to see growth in my voice. I wanted to strengthen my ability to hold a tone. During the session, we went through breathing techniques, posture, and a couple of exercises. I learned how to break a song into smaller increments and make smoother transitions. Ekanem made me feel calm and confident. I think that she is a great teacher. ”

Yushen H.
“I was looking for a singing teacher because my pitch is off and shaky but I need to be able to use my voice as an instrument in demonstration of our music software. Before working with Ekanem I tried to fix the pitch problem by singing with a frequency tracking app. But still I realized that I want to learn to sing with a teacher. During the first lesson we practiced body movement tracking, lip/facial exercise, breathing, choosing the right range and right music, listening, and singing. The teacher gave critiques on multiple segments of music. Teacher asked me to use my favorite songs instead of a song I didn’t know very well so that I could be more comfortable in my demo. I agreed that I should be doing exactly that. I found it very helpful that a few days prior to the lesson the teacher asked me to state my goal. So, the lesson was well tailored to my need and my vocal range. At the end of the first lesson I felt understood, encouraged, and hopeful. So I signed up for a package of lessons. I recommend Ekanem as a teacher if you are an adult with specific goals in mind but I think she can work with a variety of singers as well. -- Yushen from Nevada”

Debra E.
“Our 4 year old son just finished a week-long music course. He had a fantastic time and we couldn't be happier with the teacher and the methodology. I learned a bit myself in those 5 days and I know I'll be able to connect with our son musically in a more meaningful way. I wish every child could spend some time with Ekanem!”

Patrick And Malena F.
“Our goal was to prepare our son for an audition with Houston Boy Choir - in a way that he would continue to enjoy singing. He loved the lessons. He was always so calm, happy and proud afterward. He told us that the teacher really made him feel special. He passed the audition to Houston Boy Choir and we had positive feedback from the audition. We can thoroughly recommend Ekanem Ebinne as a highly professional and dedicated music teacher for anyone wanting to do this course. ”

David is a knowledgeable, prepared, timely and tech-savvy instructor. He uses a split screen on the video calls so that you can see his hand placement while conversing with him at the same time. I found this most helpful as a "true beginner" because I frequently needed to refer to his hand placement.

I was also fortunate that the time for our classes worked well for me, even though I am learning from overseas.

I look forward to continued lessons.

Personable, patient, good explanations of what he asked me to do. Readily picked up when I wasn't getting it and explained another way until I did. I am an adult learner with Parkinson's and his teaching style meshed with my limitations perfectly. I took to internet learning easily so it was a "win" for me.

I have played woodwinds for years, and plucked away at piano a little here and there. So, my education is pretty much a mishmosh. David was excellent at meeting me where I am in my education and planning out how to close the gaps in what I know as I progress forward. I've only had one lesson and learned quite a lot! Very much looking forward to continuing with David.

Take lessons with a Broadway veteran!

I've been teaching private voice and acting coaching for over 5 years and LOVE seeing my students improve! I am a working singer/actor, and writer/musician in NYC, but I love teaching so much that I do it even while I'm working on projects!

A little bit about me:
I graduated from University of Michigan's musical theatre program (one of the top musical theatre programs in the world!) and went straight into playing Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID at Chicago Shakespeare theatre, and then directly on to playing the lead in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Broadway for several years! I also recently returned from China, where I played Scarlett O'Hara in the musical version of GONE WITH THE WIND!

I've trained in all kinds of different techniques and currently have all different types of students and voices in my s
tudio! I teach all levels and ages, from beginners to professionals, and a wide variety of different of styles (Broadway, opera, pop, singer-songwriter, and many more). Together, we'll find the right techniques for your voice, and the concepts that click for you and make your voice soar! Now, any voice teacher worth their salt will be able to work on your technique with you, BUT in MY studio, we will go farther than that! Not only will your technique improve rapidly, but we will work on telling the story, and performing the song. Two major components that often get forgotten! And most importantly, we'll have fun while doing it!

Whether you're looking to push your audition technique over the top and BOOK that role, or NAIL that college audition, or if you're just looking to have some fun while singing, together we can make it happen!

My daughter dreams of being a professional actor/singer, and Rachel is both the best teacher and role model we could hope for! Rachel helps her with her vocal technique, helps her choose songs that are age appropriate but that enable her to expand her repertoire, and I am absolutely amazed at how much she has learned about acting and character/script analysis. My daughter eagerly does her "Rachel homework" each week :) Rachel also gives her great advice about auditioning, college, and the industry in general. She is truly a wealth of knowledge and talent! We were fortunate to see Rachel perform as Christine Daae in a performance of Phantom of the Opera (my daughter's favorite musical and dream role), and we were absolutely floored by her performance! We are so grateful that our daughter has the opportunity to train with an incredibly talented, enthusiastic artist and teacher. Thank you, Rachel!

My daughter is very serious about having a career in musical theater someday and she really appreciates how compassionate and dedicated Rachel is to making her a better singer. After many talks with my daughter, I can tell you Rachel has a great sense of humor, great knowledge, wisdom, industry insight and she is very caring. You could not find a better teacher! My daughter plans to keep taking lessons from Rachel for a long time. Don't walk, RUN to get your lessons with her! She is that awesome!

I am first bassoon in the top band at Lamar University. I also play in the symphonic band. I’ve been playing for roughly 13 years so I’ve got a lot of tricks up my sleeve.
I’m pretty blunt when it comes to criticizing your playing but I’m not harsh about it. I want you to be the best you can be but you’ve got to want it too. I give my all in lessons and I will always go a long way for my students in order to help them.
I’m pretty relaxed and patient when it comes to teaching. As long as there is respect between us both, we’ll have a fun learning experience. You can always expect to improve each week.
First couple of lessons will be me learning what you know and what you don’t know and what you need to work on. Sort of like an ice breaker so we can get to the good stuff faster.
I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your
