A Guru

Vir is beyond your typical vocal coach. He was a huge help on things like pitch accuracy and phrasing, but more than anything, his focus on getting me to tap into and harness my inner power has already paid huge dividends in my recordings and performances. Further, Vir is an amazing person to know and his home-studio in Berkeley is magnificent!

About Ashley
Hi! I'm Ashley, and I've been a practicing Meditation and Yoga Instructor in Thailand and Bali since 2013, mainly leading focussed retreats and teacher trainings - so I love developing longer-term relationships with students and just people in general. I was in Los Angeles living and working as a Production Coordinator for films, but I had to follow my passion eventually and have never looked back since. I've spent many years dedicated to learning how to be a yogi and live a yogic lifestyle and sacrificed a lot for that experience. Now, at 37, I feel the pendulum is swinging back to balance and I am now passionate about teaching people self-reliance and self-care through yoga, as well as how to integrate these vital tools for being human in the modern western world. I spent many years in a row pilgrimaging to special sacred spots in India
, meditating with masters and learning about the depths of the human condition, and what it means to have a connection with Self, higher consciousness and the world around us all at the same time. Finding balance has always been the center point of that unique education and how to apply everything I've learned in real world. This is my aim. I spent many years teaching Yoga Asana, anatomy, energetics, meditation, philosophy, women's intimacy and yoga on retreats and teacher trainings. And now, my wish is to share all of that applied knowledge with you. I hope we get to work together soon. Many blessings, Ashley

About Sophia
Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.

Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac
ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.

Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.

I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.

I look forward to sharing my passions with you!

About Luann
I love English and I love helping people communicate in English, especially through writing. With over twenty years of experience as a teacher, I've taught in American public schools, European academies, and online with students in Europe and Asia.

You can expect that I will listen carefully, read critically, and ultimately help you express your thoughts and ideas clearly and accurately in your own voice.

My experiences gained through traveling and volunteering give me insight into problems that non-native speakers face in expressing themselves in English.
My training as a teacher, proofreader, and editor guarantees that you'll receive high-quality instruction and open-hearted correction. And of course, my barely -contained sense of humor brings lots of fun to any lesson!

About Jessica
I am a professional Screenwriter and Script Analyst. I graduated from Academy of Art University with an M.F.A. in Writing for Film, TV, and Digital Media. Previously, I also attended Loyola University Maryland where I earned my B.A. in General Writing.

Screenwriting and Creative Writing students can expect to learn different techniques and approaches when it comes to constructing an engaging story. I understand the importance of brainstorming exercises as well as dialogue, story structure, character development, and subtext through dialogue.

I teach Screenwriting and Creative Writing for students of all age groups and experience levels. I studied the craft of screenwriting for 8 years, and general writing for 10 years. I don't just teach students to construct a captivating story. I give them the tools to write out and plan the story ea
ch step of the way from the very beginning to the page-turning ending.

One thing I have learned during my years of schooling and as a professional Script Analyst is that the main aspect of writing that screenwriters struggle with is the concept of planning. Writing a screenplay without a detailed outline and/or treatment is like going into the woods without a map or a compass. The outline is designed to make sure you don't get lost along the way and come out on the other side with a thorough piece of creative work for your portfolio.

I have worked as a Script Reader/Analyst for various companies, such as Coverfly, Cinelou Films, and Screenwriting Staffing. During my time at these companies, I was responsible for evaluating screenplays, teleplays, and short film scripts for accurate screenplay format, strong loglines, character development, backstory, subtext, and story structure. As a Script Reader/Analyst, I understand the importance and responsibility that is needed in order to help writers get to the next level creatively and professionally.

My personal favorite genres are Period Pieces and Dramas, but I firmly believe that planning is essential to the story no matter what concentration you choose. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better writer!
