Ear training is an important part of our work in singing and piano lessons. Voice and piano students learn interval recognition on the staff and by hearing. Recognizing intervals increases speed of reading music, helps identify chords on the page at a glance, and improves sight reading. Roberta is everything you would want in a teacher. She is exceptionally talented herself and knows how to share her knowledge with others. Shelley is fantastic. She made me feel at ease right away, even though I have no prior singing experience and I was incredibly nervous. As early as my second lesson, I could already hear a difference in my voice when I listened back to the recording of our session! She really knows what she's doing and it shows. I highly recommend Shelley. In addition to being a great music teacher - which she is - she's also so pleasant to work with! She's fast to respond, very accommodating with her schedule, friendly and easygoing, and professional. I started out thinking I'd just take a few weeks' worth of lessons to get out of my comfort zone. Over a year later, I'm still here, and looking forward to every week.
