About Kathryn
Kathryn K
I am happy to be offering committed actors private classes and vocal performance sessions including technique for film, stage, on camera, audition technique, monologue and scene study, script analysis and sessions that educate about working in the business for Take Leasons students. I coach in person and online. I want my students to be working actors and performers and they are. Yes, we talk about how to make a living and and be an artist,
I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild AFTRA and Actors Equity Association, a Critics Circle Award Winning Actor and I am a working performance artist. I am committed to helping artists experience their craft in a supportive, safe and challenging environment. Oh, I am really nice.
I want to see my actors and singers thrive and work and move into what they want to do.
I am most influence
d by Stanislavsky and Lee Strasberg.
I am a Method coach. I have also studied at HB Studio in NYC, as well as other studios, and feel an actor will lead me to what works for them.
I also work extensively with many people who are in other industries on key note presentations and communication skills using tools that actors use to communicate. It is extremely effective.
I am here to help you delve into your creativity in a supportive and joyful way.
My students are committed to exploring their craft of acting, singing performance, songwriting and screenwriting. Most are working professionally and are repped by agents.
They have booked many roles, too many to name, but here are a few, Chance, HBO's, Thirteen Reasons Why, WestWorld, Looking, Blue Jasmine, Touching Home, Generations, productions at several Equity theatres throughout the country and countless National commercials. Most have joined SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity and I encourage this.
When you study acting / singing performance w/ me you'll learn how to navigate the business because you must know how.

Auditions!!
They are definitely the most difficult and nerve wracking part of being an actor or singer, right? Booking work means your audition has to be as good as opening night.
Auditioning is about preparation and preparation takes consistent support. Look, showbiz is not a business about being alone. Artists thrive when working together. We are a collaborative bunch and collaborating to make sure you're ready and organized for your auditions makes sense.
Stop trying to muscle through this necessary step alone. No one who works consistently does that! They ask for help. ASK FOR HELP!!
Solidify your acting choices so you don't have to worry about them the day before your audition. Know your prep so you can internally drop into it when the casting director says, "Whenever you're ready."
Have your music material and performance choices prepared ahead of time.
BE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.
Work with me when your agent sends you your sides so you show up READY. Know your lines. It's OK if your struggling with memorization.
Let's figure out How YOU memorize.
Let me coach you for online audition submissions.
If we are working virtually I will coach while you are taping yourself to submit your online audition. It works!
Let me collaborate with on script analysis in order for you to you understand your material before you audition.
Take your work seriously so you bring your most intelligent and inspiring work to the audition rooms.
You'll be bringing the agents, casting directors, directors, producers and writers the inspiration they crave regarding their beloved projects. Do that and you're gonna book.
I know you can work and I can't wait to make it happen with you.

If you like to work on musical theater selections, you know there are different genres and styles. There is more to belting than just the high notes and I like to encourage a strong well placed head voice as well as learning contrasting styles, ballads and upbeat dance numbers.

About Laurelanne
I graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA with a BA in Music Education, voice principal. During my years in public schools I taught a variety of age ranges and subjects including kindergarten general music, beginning band, high school chorus, and remedial middle school English and language arts. I have professional Yoga training and enjoy incorporating aspects of that when tutoring adult, middle school, high school, and elementary students. I also uses Yoga, brain respiration and other healing techniques in my lessons as needed.

I was a member of The William Baker Festival Singers and Summer Singers since 2003 before becoming Media Relation Coordinator in 2006 and Assistant to the Music Director in 2008 and left the group in July of 2009 to pursue other musical ventures.

Every student has a potential
for greatness no matter what their strengths and weaknesses are. No matter your age or ability level I will help you set your goals and reach them. All students should want to learn. I expect my students to be prepared and have an open mind. Learning to sing is a process. I focus on building technique and a strong musical foundation and customize my lessons for every student and individual needs. I use breathing techniques and exercises that are challenging and work toward quick and accurate results. I implement a variety of exercises to improve pitch, intonation, placement, strength, and endurance. My main goal in teaching is to encourage each student to get to know their vocal strengths and weaknesses while using all their skills to their advantage producing their best sound consistently.

Laurelanne is one of the best vocalists, coaches and teachers I've ever met. Not only is she encouraging, personal and educational, she's challenging, engaging and patient. I have been taking lessons for a couple of months and I've already seen leaps in my extending of range and fixing my pitch. She knows exactly what she's doing as a teacher and coach and she'll bring your confidence out. I honestly can't say enough great things about her and her way of getting her students farther than they thought they could go. You're the best, Laurelanne and I plan on being one of your long time students!

Her relaxed style is welcomed and her wide range of technique and expertise is appreciated. She motivates me to continue on my path to not just ding, but be a singer. Adam is a great teacher. He praises you for things you do properly and patiently tries to correct any mistakes. His song suggestions that would be used for practice try to highlight your voice as you apply the techniques you learned. They also sometimes take you out of your comfort zone to challenge you and expand your growth. Would highly recommend him as a teacher!

I would highly recommend Tony Mitri as a voice and music instructor. My son takes lessons with Mr. Mitri and his progress has been astounding! He studies with other teachers previously without much success. My son has said he has learned more from Mr. Mitri than all of his previous instructors. He enjoys the lessons so he works harder at making progress and it shows. He helped him expand his range substantially, and increase his confidence. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in music of any kind. Mr.Mitri is awesome professional, patient and extremely knowledgeable. You won’t be disappointed.

Experienced teacher of 6 years, specializing in the everything voice! All ages are welcome in my classroom. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be singing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong basic music understanding of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. Let your music making dreams begin with me, it's time to get started!

About Derek
I am Professional Singer, Conductor, Music Teacher, and Church Musician. I graduated from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN in 2016 with a B.A. in Vocal Performance and a B.M.E. in Vocal and General Music Education. I have extensive experience with training choirs as well as solo performers both in and out of college.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice is different and needs to be treated with great care and attention. I will work with the students to expand their range and find what works best for THEIR voice. Every voice I have taught has dramatically improved with a few just weeks under my instruction. I can help anyone sing with confidence and grace.

As a music teacher I have experience teaching in a title 1 K-8 school where I taught a variety of ages and skill levels
including students with special needs in our school's cross-categorical classes. From song writing with my middle school students to basic piano skills to choir. I have donet it all in the music classroom.

As a conductor and performing musician I have had the blessing and opportunity to travel all over the world. Some of the highlights of my career have been a 5-week opera program in Siena, Italy. During this time we lived in apartments and were fully immersed in the Italian culture, we performed over 20 times during those 5 weeks. Other musical ventures include various Choir tours throughout the United States and Europe.

My personal passion is Classical and Broadway music but I firmly believe that great basic technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

Derek was hired to lead a volunteer choir of mostly non-musicians. He worked with them, teaching enunciation, tone, intonation and more, until our choir was quite adept in singing 4 part octavos. He taught with compassion and care.

Derek is a wonderful teacher of music! He includes music history, which is fascinating, and gently nudges his students to do more than they think they can. I highly recommend him to anyone who likes to sing!
