I am a professional singer-songwriter and have been teaching lessons fulltime for 20+ years.  I teach students of all ages and levels of experience.   My current range of students include: kids with learning/developmental disabilities, teenagers who have starred in school musicals, and performing adult singer-songwriters.  Whatever your background or desire, I can help you to cultivate your unique musical potential, and to strengthen your creative voice.

As a professional vocalist and pianist, I have worked freelance, in a variety of settings, over the years--including solo, in wedding bands, small jazz and rock/pop groups and with big bands.  I have been singing with the Mood Swings Big Band for 15 years.  During that time, we have performed at the White House, the Chamber of Commerce and in Kennebunkport, Maine (at the Bush estate). 

I also have an extensive professional and personal background in meditation (19 years), astrology (14 years) and healing (particularly Reiki, 13 years).  I am very interested in the intersection between a healing/mindfulness-awareness approach and singing/playing piano.

Very informative in marketing strategies and she’s very good at explaining things to make them very easy to understand.

As a choreographer and professional dancer, she has worked with artists such as Shakira, Nick Cannon, Sean Paul, N.E.R.D.,Killa Mike, Nelly Furtado , Lil Wayne, B.o.B., Fizz & Boog, Mack 10, J Holiday, 
Tony Toni Toné and has appeared on film/ and commercials such as 
FAME, MTV's "Non Stop Summer", Disney’s “Phineas & Ferb," 
and “So Random," BET's "The Mo'Nique Show" and 
The Oxygen Channel's "Hair Battle Spectacular 2." 

Her work has been featured in Dance Mogul Magazine, Dance Spirit Magazine, Paper Magazine, appeared dancing at The Apollo with Black Coffee, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,"choreographing on 
BET's "F In Fabulous."

Yaminah has taught for Alvin Ailey, Columbia University, Brooklyn Museum, EXPG New York, Cumbe Center For African And Diaspora Dance,  Abrons Arts  Center, IDA Hollywood, American College Dance Festival, Lines Ballet San Francisco Dance Center, ODC Dance Commons San Francisco. and Gibney Dance Studios.

I teach a fun beginners' course on the Tarot.  This WILL NOT be a Tarot reading, instead, it's a lesson(s) in teaching you how to do Tarot readings and help you develop practices to become a Tarot reader.  This course goes over what Tarot is (and isn't), how to get started, how to do a reading, and more.

The class is based upon my personal system and style of reading the Tarot (developed and practiced for over 15 years).

This can be taught as a class of multiple people or on a one-on-one basis.  This is offered as an in-person or online course.

I have 20+ years of experience as a tutor.  I have had my own private tutoring business.  My area of expertise is math (basic arithmetic to pre-calculus); however, I have tutored in English (grammar and writing), Computer science (Word, Works, Windows OS, and other general computer problems), as well as other subjects.  In addition, I also have 20 years of experience working with after-school programs both as a tutor and as a recreational instructor.  My recreational activities consisted of cheerleading, dance, computer science, graphic design, music (singing), and board games.  I have worked with children of all ages.

NOTE: I do primarily online sessions for my students (some exceptions may apply).  If you need in-home/in-person tutoring please ask before booking a lesson.  Please give the days & hours that work for you as well as the time zone (I work out of California {Pacific Standard Time}.  ALSO, I DO NOT DRIVE!!!  Please ask about my availability and tell me where you live prior to booking me!!!  There will be an additional charge to cover travel.

Tutoring sessions are 1 hour minimum to 2 hours maximum (depending on subject).  

Basic sessions may consist of the following:
Review of current or past trouble spots
Homework help
Test prep and/or review
Extra practice exercises

Single and multiple-subject sessions are possible depending on tutor assessment and availability.

Clients should bring any/all textbooks, class work, tests/quizzes, and teacher's notes to all sessions.
