You will learn the fundamentals of office to advanced skills to help you succeed even further in school and work.
You might not always notice it, but music is all around—from the stereo in your car to the music piped in at department stores. And you also may not be aware that music has a wide array of impacts on your health: Studies show that music has a strong effect on your mood levels and emotions, and also on how you think and your general intelligence. The music you listen to can have a profound effect on your test scores and your ability to quickly process information. And if you’ve ever played an instrument, studies show that you’re already ahead of the curve. Playing an instrument is a great way to test out your creative thinking and push your brain to process information in a new way. Whether you’re listening or playing, a little music can go a long way. I am here to help you realize not only your playing potential, but guide you into not ju
st becoming a guitar player, piano player, but a musician. I am able to teach Piano, Guitar, Music recording from software/hardware to MIDI, including Sonar, Reason, and related software.
I have studied music at California State University San Bernardino, where I minored in music and learned the immense possibilities of the music field. Music is part of my everyday life, and its an honor to know I can play music but also create it. My goal is to show you as the student how to realize that dream.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a very friendly, fun and patient instructor. I believe that when you take any type of music lesson, it should be to have fun. With fun, passion, and dedication, sky is the limit. The curriculum I like to use are the most simplified forms to teach an instrument. It's about playing smarter, not harder. I do offer recording sessions to my students to track their progress, and give you a copy to keep as memorabilia.
*** Studio Equipment *** Bergman Upright Piano. Fender Acoustic/ Gibson Electric. Marshall Amps. Digital and analog Recording Station.
*** Specialties *** I have in-depth knowledge of classical works, but my emphasis is in modern rock/ Alternative/ Pop. I like teaching the songs you like to hear from The Beatles to Green Day! I love all music genres and if I have not heard of the song you want to play I will learn it so that I can teach you!
I had a great lesson, Paul took the initiative, and personalized a lesson for me. he took the time to find out what i know and what i wanted to learn. Thanks Paul

Paul is a great and fun guy with exceptional musician knowledge across multiple platforms. The lessons provided me with the basics I needed to basically perform as a DJ. There is a lot to learn & he's the guy that got me started. I highly recommend him as a teacher.

DeTrece "Dee" Lavender is a native of Miami, Florida. When her family moved to Sarasota, she was afforded the opportunity to study music and the performing arts as a student of the Westcoast School/Henry L. Porter School of Music. It was then that Dee began to understand the power of the creative arts as an effective form of emotional expression and release. By middle school, DeTrece began fine tuning her natural talents by studying classical voice which earned her several starring roles in the Sarasota Youth Opera, The Aslo Theater and the Players Theater. She is also a proud former member of the Westcoast Black Theater Troop in Sarasota, FL. Under the caring leadership of these opportunities, she was able to combine musical and life experiences in order to offer a more well rounded educational and musical experience for her students.
She was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where she received a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance (Class of 2003). It was through her service as a music therapist, Millieu (residential) counselor and music teacher in the Boston City Public Schools/Greater Boston Metropolitan Area, that she began to feel the call toward a greater understanding of the gravity and role of the socio-emotional needs of students (and their families/villages) in urban settings. This call brought her to Baltimore, MD where she enrolled in the Pastoral Counseling Masters of Science program at Loyola University. In addition to her studies, she currently teaches Elementary and Middle School choir/ Musicianship teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools through the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids Program. She also serves as Minister Of Music and Arts at two local churches.
I had such an amazing experience training with Detrece! She always has such sweet positive energy. I was so happy that with me being more of an advanced singer she was able to teach me about my voice and tips that I never knew! I only had 5 lessons and still had a vocal breakthrough where she helped me realize my range is wider than I thought. She gave me more confidence and is always seeking to share opportunities with me. I’m so grateful to her!!

I really hit JACKPOT with Joanne. Joanne is very technical, yet explains things in a manner to make you understand. I had a great first session with Joanne and look forward to many more, as my budget permits. She helped me with exactly what I needed help with and taught me a few things in the meantime.
Microsoft Office is a great tool, and I can help you learn how to use it!

Very patient, knowledgeable and convenient. Any question that she didn't have she researched and got the answer.

Worst experience, complete waste of my money. I could write several paragraphs detailing all the things that occurred that frustrated me, but I will just list a few facts: Could not answer most of my process questions. Very frustrating, but Liz said she would get back to me on the 3 specific questions that I very much needed. I made sure to review the still open questions 2-3 times before the end of our waste of time session. She never got back to me, even after several follow-up requests.
No worries, TakeLessons has a Satisfaction guarantee, right? WRONG. Come to find out they will refund any unspent money. Because Liz demanded to get paid for her time, tho, I was 100% unhappy, TakeLessons refunded the $12 booking fee.
I tried and tried to get satisfaction from both Liz and TakeLessons before resorting to writing this review. I guess TakeLessona thinks it is OK for their instructors to not perform and still get paid. So disappointed in both.

My greatest passion in life is teaching. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and experienced great success in my academics, due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of my commitment to helping out my students, whatever their abilities may be. I have been tutoring and teaching for over 10 years in various settings — tutoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and teaching in rural, suburban, and urban classrooms and home settings. I have a bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics with a minor in Psychology. I also have special teaching licenses in TEFL and TESOL. In my experience, no two students are alike, and I'm able to quickly identify unique needs, to help each student progress quickly! Students find me patient, kind and fun to work with. I have vast experience working with computers and have been an avid user of Microsoft Office for decades. I can teach you all the things that Office has to offer or concentrate on one specific aspect of it. You tell me why you are interested in Office and what you plan to get out it, and I will do my best to help your reach those goals.
I am a Civil Engineer specialized in Earthquake Engineering, but have diversified my background throughout the years (I am an avid student myself!). My teaching experience includes working as a professor at my university back at home and tutoring high school students- mainly in mathematics and physics. I have also taught Spanish to foreigners in my country. Before obtaining my degree, I worked as a computer technician and have always maintained this as a side-job and hobby. So I can also help you out if you wish to learn more about computers!
Pedro is a very thoughtful, patient and capable teacher. I am learning a lot of Spanish.

Pedro is a very good tutor. He is patient and explains the subject matter well. The student was comfortable with him and therefore was able to ask questions whenever it was needed. I appreciated Predro's schedule flexibility as well.

I had no idea how lucky I would be to find Pedro. I am an interior designer learning Autocad and having no prior experience with the program, Pedro made it totally accessible. He is a phenomenal teacher and is so kind and patient. He provides foundational rules at the beginning of each session and has clear goals mapped out for every step of the way. We have done a number of exercises that I did not think would be possible for me to accomplish at this point. I am so grateful to have found him and highly recommend him!!!!!
(by the way, i'm writing this assuming addressing the person that i will work with, if you're a parent or somebody else reading this, please imagine you were the one that needs this service).
So in the previous section i think i described myself pretty thoroughly. I will use this section to let you know what you can expect from me, so you have a better idea of who i am and what i can do for you.
I will focus on YOUR needs
What does that mean? I remember when i was learning English and they were teaching me a lot of irrelevant stuff. I learned things like: " Sally likes apples and Bob likes cakes" It's all nice, but what i really wanted to know was what to say to a teacher when i want to go to the washroom. But nobody ever asked me what i want to learn, they just told me what i should learn. And that's fine, there is a plac
e for practicing things like "Sally likes apples", but if you have an area where you want to improve in. Tell me and we'll practice. We can roleplay! I will ask you questions and you will try to answer as best you can and i will correct you. I will talk with you in English like i would talk to a friend (like my friend did to me when i was learning English) and you will pick it up much faster! I will go as slow or as fast as you can handle. You can tell me about your day. Or ask questions. We will try a few things and find what works for you!
I am a fan of compound learning.
What does that mean? Here is an example! We can learn what the words: apple. Juice. I. Want. are individually. ORRRR we can learn a sentence of: I want apple juice. Instead of trying to make your brain remember 4 objects separately, you will only have to remember 1 object that contains all of those smaller objects. That speeds up learning a lot. Of course, it depends on your level. And we will start with the very basic stuff. But as soon as you get the basics, we will move on to this. And before you know it, you will start speaking in complete sentences. And once you speak, you will read, write and be on your way to think in English.
I will be patient with you!
I will go at the speed that you can handle. There will be homework too!
Igor would do great with anyone! I am a friend of his grandma(my mother is in the same ESL class as she is) and he is so patient with her! I saw the progress she made myself in just a few short months! He is friendly, really nice and i'm sure will do great!
