Having a variety of experiences professionally and academically, I am very well suited to cater to the interests of my students. I am currently getting my Master's degree in classical guitar performance, but I often include a variety of styles in order to motivate your practice times at home. Whether you want really nail the sound of a Black Sabbath riff, learn to solo over a blues progression, or even learn a piano piece on guitar. I can help give you the tools to form your own musical identity.

Beginners
Learn to find the notes on your instrument and read simple pieces, as well as all the theory to back up all concepts. Explore the basic methods of fretting and finger picking. Play simple pieces primarily in first position in major keys.

Intermediate
Expand upon your theory to include all three types of minor keys (natural, harmonic, and melodic). Start to traverse the neck in pieces.

Advanced
Start to apply prior concepts to arrangement and improvisation. Take music off the page, and begin to live it.

Focus on technique and repertoire from Baroque and Classical Periods.

Classical Guitar is a great way to approach music and learning about the fundamentals of it. I can teach any level of classical guitar, courses can be focused on reading, technique, dexterity, composition and whatever topic the student wants to learn.

By the time we complete our lesson, you will be comfortable with which strings are which and will be able to play a simple piece using the classical finger picking technique! By the end of your first package of lessons, you will be able to play and read notes on all of the strings and play a small variety of lovely, performance-quality pieces.

A guitarist since 1996, I have trained in classical guitar using the Christopher Parkening method, and also teach from the Suzuki method. Students describe me as patient, fun, and encouraging! I've been teaching 20 years. Classical Guitar technique is the foundation for most fingerpicking styles. Exploring the repertoire of Bach, the classic guitar composers - Sor, Guliani, Carcassi and learning how to arrange melodies for the guitar even if not written for guitar are some of the goals when I teach this style.
