Chess is a great hobby for children and adults alike! I've been teaching chess for over a year now (through private lessons and at the Los Angeles Chess Club) and my lessons are as fun and engaging as they are educational. Whether this is your first time seeing a chess board in your whole life or if you've always admired the game from afar, I can help you develop your understanding of all aspects of the game.

About Jessica

Hi, I'm Jessica! I've been an avid writer since I was nine years old. After an elementary school project to write our own book, I fell in love with storytelling. That love has pushed me to write countless short stories, poems, and a few novels, as well as to perfect my craft through the attainment

Jessica’s enthusiasm for the game is palpable. She is very patient and gets one to start thinking about why one move makes more sense than another move. After my first lesson today, I’m thinking about attackers and defenders, and making sure my attackers outnumber the defenders.

Jessica is a very patient and knowledgeable chess teacher. She breaks things down so they’re easier to understand and less overwhelming. I highly recommend her as a teacher!

My students can expect a lesson that's full of fun, engaging and accompanied by a high level of passion and energy.
I'm result oriented and very dedicated to my students and provide students with a lot of constructive feedback during the lessons.
Lessons will mainly focus on students strength and weaknesses, through many different means. The lessons are supplemented by several materials: work book problems, live game play, analysis of student's own games, online resources, classic game review and much more. My custom lesson plans are based on the student's own background and experience. I am always committed to making each lesson fun and exciting!

Fantastic teacher, very professional and engaging. Cheers!

My 6 year old son loves chess and when I told him several weeks ago I would get him chess lessons for Christmas, he was extremely excited. He talked about it every day for weeks. I emailed Sam to confirm the lesson and ask him if we needed to prepare. Sam asked us to make sure we had zoom, which I replied that we did. I asked him what link to use to log on for the lesson and he never replied. The day of the lesson, my son was checking the time every hour, waiting for it to start. 40 minutes in advance, he set up his chess board at the dining room table and sat waiting. For over an hour I tried every way I could to figure out how to log on to the lesson. Called customer service twice and no answer. Called Sam multiple times, and his phone went straight to voicemail. Emailed; texted; everything to no avail. The lesson time came and went. My son is still in tears. I have paid for three lessons, and it appears this service is a scam or something. If this is in fact a serious business, I hope I can expect a refund.

...So had my 3rd zoom lesson online, was awesome!
Have a much better understanding of the game. Sam, is an excellent coach and knows his stuff-highly recommended.

Vinny has given lessons to my son for 3 years in the Chicagoland area. He started in 7th grade. My son made the highest level of Wind Ensemble when entering high school as a freshman. I highly recommend Vinny. Vinny works on your child's school music and he also gives a lesson that you need to accomplish. Vinny is a likable person, great with kids, he has this "cool" vibe to him that makes you smile and the kids relate to him very well. I suggest you try him out!
