You live in Columbia, North Carolina but you don’t think private music lessons are worth your hard-earned money. In your opinion they’re expensive and you don’t have the time to travel to take them. On top of that, you have a busy schedule which most Columbia music lessons providers cannot accommodate. Well we’re glad you found us, because we can help.

First off, we believe that no one should undertake learning a musical instrument on their own. In order to ensure the best learning experience we feel that every student needs a teacher that can provide guidance, track progress and inspire the student to become a better musician. At TakeLessons, our instructors will not only teach you how to play an instrument, dance, sing, or act, but they’ll also help motivate you to improve your skill-set. We had an amazing experience with Dave. He is very warm and genuine and makes children feel very comfortable. We are looking forward to our second lesson with him and I'm sure five stars from us, but since it was our first experience we can't wait for the next one!

This teacher did not pay close attention as I explained by goals, which resulted in a lesson that was not aligned with my goals for drumming. I would recommend searching for a different teacher if you have specific goals. This teacher either did not understand what I was explaining or not able to translate make goals into specific practice routines.

About Jeremy
I began playing guitar by ear around age ten. I learned rock songs from records for a few years, and then I began a more serious study of theory in high school. Over the next several years I alternated between pursuing my music degree and playing in bands all over the midwest. In 2004, I transferred from Indiana University to Sonoma State to focus completely on jazz and finish my degree. I have worked with groups and privately, with all ages and skill levels. I am very flexible with the direction of your study and will help you with whatever aspects of your playing you would like to develop.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher, I am here for your development. I will do my best to take the lessons in the direction that you want to go, while still providing adequate instruction in music fundamentals.

My son has been getting guitar lessons from Jeremy for about six months. My son is really enjoying learning to play and he looks forward to his lessons with Jeremy! Jeremy is a wonderful teacher. He's knowledgeable, intelligent, professional and easy going. Jeremy is not the first teacher that my son has had but he's by far the best. I feel very fortunate to have found him!

I learned so much from Jeremy over about 4 years of lessons. He listened to my goals, and tailored his lessons to help me achieve them. From the fundamentals to more advanced skills, such as improvisation, he stuck with me and allowed me to develop my own voice on the guitar.

I'm a total beginner on the guitar. Watched a few youtube vids, learned some basics, but working in-person with Jeremy I've progressed a LOT faster. Worth the investment!

About Christopher
Hello! Hola! Benvenuto! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, composer, polyglot, and experienced language and music teacher.

I am a recent graduate with a Masters of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. There I studied with the world-renowned guitarist Eliot Fisk who is a direct student of the legendary guitarist Andres Segovia.

Currently I work part time teaching 12 students guitar at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. I also I teach ukulele, Spanish, Italian, and English to a variety of students online. At the same time I am pursuing a Doctoral degree from the university to strengthen my skills as a guitarist and expand my knowledge as a teacher for higher education. I have also just completed my debut album titled, "Anima - The Music of Spain and Italy for the Gu
itar."

This album is a tribute and memorial to an amazing journey I had traveling and living in Europe for 3 years.

After I graduated from my undergraduate degree, I realized that in order to better my skills as a musician and become the guitar teacher I wanted to be I had to travel abroad. I moved to Seville, Spain where for three years I studied the art of classical and flamenco guitar.

I studied with a international known Spanish guitarist named Francisco Bernier at the Conservatory in Seville. During this time I was also teaching English as a second language to high school and middle school students. From traveling and spending so much time in Europe, I also developed and studied my love of languages and I became fluent in Spanish and Italian.

The experienced was an experience of a lifetime and I made many friends working and living abroad that to this day, I still keep in contact with.

If you are interested in having lessons with me, please contact me and we can begin learning the art of making beautiful music or learning the beautiful languages of the Mediterranean! "Hasta pronto!" "A presto!" and "Speak to you soon!"

About Calvin
As a classically trained violist with orchestral, chamber, and solo performance experience, my teaching style is geared towards performance and expression. I don't adhere to any one book of teaching, adjusting my teaching to the unique needs of each student. My teachers came from different pedagogical backgrounds; as a result, I have a wide array of teaching tools available to pass on to my students. I have taught with the Longy School of Music's El Sistema program and had a Teaching Artist residence with Cambridge Public Schools. I hold a BM in Viola performance from the Lamont School of Music and a MM in Viola Performance from the Longy School of Music.

I have played viola since I first began my musical studies at age 9. As a result, I have seen teachers hold viola students back, simply because they play the "lesser" instrument in th
e viola family. I do not hold my students back and I hold them all to the same high level of playing, regardless of which instrument they play.

Hello! My name is Regina and I am passionate about teaching music!
I have been teaching private lessons since 2012 and love helping my students grow in ability and confidence! I went to the University of South Carolina and earned a Bachelors in Music Education, where I majored in piano and minored in trumpet. I also have earned a Masters in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from Columbia International University (in conjunction with USC).
