I provide piano lessons with a very relaxed and open-ended approach. Students are taught out of a series of books that are suitable for their level. Each lesson, I do my best to make sure the student is comfortable and understands what is being taught to ensure progress.

I take pride in having never raised my voice with a student and I have been told I have the "patience of a Saint."

About Christian
My name is Christian and I am a graduate of Duquesne University with a degree Music Technology- Composition. While at Duquesne I also studied piano (classical and jazz), music theory and harpsichord. In 2010 I began teaching piano privately to students from ages 7 and up. I am able to teach beginner to intermediate piano and music theory. Aside from classical music, I am also able to teach rock and improvisation.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are always easy going and student oriented. I always allow the student to determine the pace of the lesson and progress, whether that is a variety of pieces to study or one at a time.

I use Alfred's Basic Piano Course for younger students and Alfred's Adult Basic Piano Course for adult students.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my home studio I own a high quality Korg SP-280 keyboard. 88 we
ighted keys, provides a great balance of a real piano feel on a keyboard. It is an instrument I personally practice on for my piano lessons with great results! If you are comfortable learning on a keyboard, let me know and we can create lessons that work for you.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Jazz, Improvisation, Rock Piano

I love to teach piano! I want the student to have fun and love learning this instrument. I love to see light bulbs go off as they have mastered or completely understood a skill.

About Ruthie
My name is Ruthie and I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in May of 2007 with a Bachelors of Music Education degree with an emphasis in voice. Through my collegiate experiences, I had the privilege of participating in a Concert Choir, Barbershop/A Capella Ensembles, Vocal Jazz Ensembles and Performance in Solo Voice. The jazz program at UNC is one of the finest in the United States, and to be selected as a member of one of the vocal jazz ensembles was an honor in itself. From these experiences I have gained knowledge about the importance of vocal performance and music advocacy. I accepted a position as a general music teacher in Colorado in the fall of 2007 and then worked part time for a school in Laguna Niguel, CA until June of 2012. I recently moved from California to Minnesota and am trying to get my music student cli
entele established. I love to sing all different styles and I'd love to help you find your style and help discover your passions.

My passion for music started for me as a young child. I grew up in a musically inclined family, and was inspired and motivated by family members to use my gifts and talents to educate students about the world of music. My immense love for children, coupled with my educational experiences and my passion for music qualify me as a fun and exciting teacher.

I am huge lover of Barbershop/Sweet Adeline music and I recently competed in the International Young Women in Harmony Quartet Contest in Nashville, TN. My quartet, Vogue, won the competition. The Young Women in Harmony contest is for girls 25 years old and younger. I recently sang with a quartet called, Dolce. We competed in two International Competitions in Denver and Hawaii and placed 10th and 15th in the world. I was also a member of the International Gold Medalist Chorus, Harborlites, which is comprised of 180 female singers.

"Music isn't just learning notes and playing them, You learn notes to play to the music of your soul." - Katie Greenwood

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons will be educational and fun. I want to find your passions and interests and from there I will create lesson plans to enhance your learning experience in your specified concentration. Voice lessons will start with vocal warm ups and exercises and then we will proceed to work on vocal techniques and preferred repertoire. During the lessons we will create goals and work on those goals so you become a successful musician.

I am a very patient and caring teacher and I am able to create the lessons to your style and needs. Music is fun and I want to make it that way for you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a full keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
I studied music education in college with a vocal emphasis. I am classically trained but studied jazz as well. I also am a member of an internationally ranked barbershop chorus and quartet. I specialize in singing bass and lead in barbershop.

I differentiate between concepts and skills, while stressing the importance of mastering both. As important as it is to understand the intervolic relationships in something like the major scale, this knowledge does little for the pianist if she or he cannot pick out the notes to the different scales in real time. In observing that each person demonstrates unique learning patterns and abilities, I have learned that some people will come to understand the conceptual through mastery of memorized tasks while some will succeed with technical mastery only after achieving some conceptual understanding.

About Patrick
Hi there, my name is Patrick, and I am now a new resident of the Asheville area. I am a music teacher of Trumpet, Piano, Voice and Sound Recording with more than 20 plus years of experience. Below, I relate some of my experiences and philosophies as a teacher of music since 2002.

*** Lesson Details ***
Trumpet Lessons
I have worked with adults and children, with beginners, and with more experienced players looking for a push or a new direction. I have developed many different teaching methods based on what each of my students wants to get out of lessons. The heart of most lessons I teach is learning to play or understand songs. Usually, I rely on my students to select the songs they wish to study, which I then transcribe to make personal arrangements fitted to their abilities. Of course, I will suggest or recommend songs at times.
I also supply relevant exercises and music theory to accelerate the learning process.

Piano Lessons
I differentiate between concepts and skills, while stressing the importance of mastering both. As important as it is to understand the intervalic relationships in something like the major scale, this knowledge does little for the pianist if she or he cannot pick out the notes to the different scales in real time. In observing that each person demonstrates unique learning patterns and abilities, I have learned that some people will come to understand the conceptual through mastery of memorized tasks while some will succeed with technical mastery only after achieving some conceptual understanding.
Voice Lessons
Having first begun singing at 22 years old, I know first hand that it’s never to late to start singing. Having some experience in school but not fully as a professional till in my 20′s, I have learned from some of the top professionals in the South Florida area. My first vocal lessons was with Gloria Estefan’s back up singer Jon Secada. Jon has his first hit “Just Another Day” that stayed at #1 for several weeks. His one lesson really helped me use singing in my gigging around town. From that time on, I have used this technique for all my students. focusing on JUST BREATHING, has helped many of my students.

Teaching Sound Recording
Working in the early 1980s with recorded music and computers, I was introduced to the new wave of recording at its birth. At Miami Dade Community College, I taught and assisted students in Composition, Sound Development, and Sound Recording using Mac computers and PC’s. As of this day, I personally teach recording in Logic Pro, Bias Peak and Mastering using Waves plug ins and having finished products in Mp4 format and or CD’s.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Mac with logic pro software instruments, piano seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
expect students to provide paper and pencil and put in practice time on their respected instruments at least 30 min a week

*** Specialties ***
Alfred,Hanon,Rubank Advanced Method for instruments.

I have developed a system for pianists that can increase efficiency of learning up to five times based on the development of three essential skills. I find students are able to progress more quickly with far better results when they consistently apply the skills of focus, beat dominance, and hand positioning using the practice method I teach.

About Jonathan
I'm available for in-studio and online lessons and coaching.

***I am excited announce this year that four of my students were invited to audition for the NATS national level competition after having placed first, second, and third at the regional level. Two were accepted. Out of the 219 students at the audition one of my students placed first. Congratulations Laura, Mariel, Garrett, and Greer.***

I hold a BA and MMus in voice performance and have been teaching privately and in schools for over 15 years. I currently hold adjunct professorships at Clemson University and at Anderson University. In addition to private voice, piano, and instrumental instruction I have taught bands and choirs on multiple levels for 12 years. I feel my breadth of experience has enabled me to develop a deeper understanding of common learning traits and focus
on skill based learning.

I'm comfortable teaching students of all ages including special needs students, and I have developed a practice method that triples the efficiency of each hour of practice time.

You're likely to hear me say:

"Practice makes permanent."

"If a student isn't having fun, I'm doing something wrong"

"If it sounds good, it is good."

I have been teaching piano for the past few years. I enjoy working with beginning students and building up their skills from scratch. Lessons are a fun mix of piano fundamentals, such as reading notes and rhythms. I combine that aspect with learning new pieces and games that target other skills, like ear training and time feel. I also like having students apply their newfound skills to improvising and composing.
I take a structured and detailed approach in the lessons but still keep things fast-paced and enjoyable.

About Ana
Hey there! The first thing I want to tell you about studying with me is that my highest priority is making it fun. I’ve found that cultivating the student’s genuine interest and enjoyment of the music learning process is the biggest contributor to progress.

In the first lesson, communication is very important to me. I want to find out what you love about music, so that we can build skills which directly contribute to your musical passions. My approach with a new student involves discussing what they are hoping to get out of taking lessons. Together, we come up with a series of goals that we will work towards achieving during our sessions. I believe in tailoring the lesson to each individual student- there is no one size fits all method to learning!

I welcome students of all skill levels and ages, including complete beginners!

I h
ave had significant formal musical training, as well as years of experience working as a singer and teacher. I have performed and taught in a variety of styles, including opera, classical, pop, folk, and musical theater. I have a Bachelor of Music degree, and I’m about to complete my Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance. I emphasize a vocal technique rooted in the classical tradition, because it provides an excellent foundation for any style the student is interested in singing.

I can provide repertoire for you, and I also am open to working on pieces that you are interested in learning.

Hey! Thanks for checking out my profile! I am an aspiring Music Therapist and Composer at Converse University. I have over 15 years of piano experience, and play 6 other instruments as well. I try my best to find ways to make lessons productive and fun, because I have been in student's shoes. I know how boring scales can be, and how hard it can be to find time to practice. I employ creative methods and games to motivate students of all ages and experiences levels to achieve the highest level of musical fluency. Since I am a composer, I have access to music software to notate songs at each student's individual level, as well as give lessons in composition. Feel free to message me with more questions! Thank you :-)

About Sarah
Hey there! Thanks for checking out my profile.

My name is Sarah, and I am a Music Therapy and Composition student at Converse. I have over 15 years of experience in piano, and play six other instruments as well. I have a passion for music, and love merging that passion with my love of teaching and helping others.

What makes my teaching style unique is that I can relate to students. I have been there, so I know how it feels. I know how practicing can be boring or frustrating, and how it can be hard to find time to practice. Using this experience I employ unique games and exercises to help motivate my students to get over these obstacles and succeed to the highest level.

Another thing that makes me unique is the fact that I am a composer. I have access to composition software, and can use that to transpose or compose music that is indiv
idual to every student's level. (This also cuts down on book costs at times.)

Overall, I just want to see my students happy and thriving in their love for music! Feel free to message me for details or if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you!

I cater towards whatever the student wants to learn. If they want to learn classical, jazz, gospel, or pop I can teach any of those genres while also supplying them with knowledge of theory and reading music.

About Nathan
Hey!

My name is Nathan and I love music. I started out learning classical piano ata young age. By the time I reached 18 I was intrigued by jazz but had no idea how to play without reading music. With the help of a teacher I was able to understand how to listen to the different parts of a song and write them out so I could play them.

With that knowledge I've been able to take my love of jazz music and play with a band. Knowing how I struggled to go from reading music and playing classical to playing jazz I'd love to teach others how to make that transition and simply the process.

Learn how to read music and use correct fingerings, play scales, understand chords, and play beginner to intermediate level songs. Learn a wide range of genres and play fun songs rather than just the simple songs that most beginner textbooks suggest which can sometimes be uninspiring.

About Benjamin
I've been playing guitar for 14 years, piano for about 12-13 and been composing for just as long. I've been producing music, both recorded and electronic for 14 years. Been using Ableton Live for 9 years. I've had about a dozen bands and played shows around town as well as recorded, mixed and mastered my own and other people's music. I'm all about professionalism all the way through, as well as having fun during the process. I've been teaching lessons for about five years now. I have a bachelor's degree in music. My minor was education studies, which equipped me to teach in non-traditional settings such as private lessons and even work in music ministry leading others. The focus of lessons with me will to form a great technique and then to work on what you (or your child) want to work on. Some students prefer learning more about music theory or technique while others like to focus on learning as much music as they can. My passion is teaching and working with people one-on-one, and I hope to work with you soon!

About Emily
My passion is working with people one-on-one and in small groups to help them grow and become the best version of themselves. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Minor in Education Studies, and I'm working on a Master's in Organizational Leadership so I can one day move into a position as a worship pastor, music minister, or a leader in a wholesome organization. I dream of being able to impact the world one person at a time. I believe that all the skills and dedication music requires develop people mind, body, and spirit, and teaching music gives me a way to reach my dreams of helping others.

In lessons with me, I will always try to get to know you first so I can teach you in the way that works best for you. I try to teach life skills such as goal-setting that you can take with you even if you decide to end music lessons. I'm alw
