(This course is for people whose native language is not English.)

I have many years experience teaching English to students at all levels from beginners to fluent speakers. I am a native English speaker.

My lessons are all 1 to 1 so we can work on your individual English language learning goals. We can focus on conversation, listening skills, speaking, grammar, vocabulary building, writing, or whatever you need.

Some of my students are beginnings who need to learn the basics. Others are intermediates who are trying to gain proficiency. Many are advanced students who are already using English at work, and need to sound more natural and more like a native speaker.

For advanced students, I am happy to help you with resumes, cover letters, and job applications, as well as with interviewing practice.

With my less advanced students, we can work on every day situations, and practicing using correct grammar and pronunciation.

About Marion
Hi, I'm Marion. I teach ESL - English-as-a-Second language to adults. Lessons are 1 to 1, so we can work on speaking, listening, reading, writing, or whatever you need. I also work with native-English speakers and English language learners on improving their writing. Whatever your skill set, age, abilities, or background, I can help make you a better writer.

My ESL students come from many different backgrounds. Some are beginners, but most are working professionals who need to perfect their English to compete in the workplace.

My writing students are either native-speakers or English language learners who need improve their skills for school, work, or personal reasons. I can help with graduate school personal statements, job-seeking cover letters, proposal writing, and many other areas.

I love working with adults and younger peop
le on developing storytelling techniques, and public speaking skills for presentations and interviews, as well as for personal events. These are great confidence builders with real world results!

Whether you are a native speaker or an English-language learner, it would be my honor and privilege to work with you.

Each session will have a check-in assessing what your goals are for the lesson that day. We will review spoken english, written, and reading based on your current level.

About Shelley
I'm a professional singer/teacher residing in New York City with degrees from Indiana State University, and New York University with a specialization in Classical Art Song, Musical Theatre Repertoire, and Vocal Pedagogy.

Every lesson is about YOU. So each week we will take a look at your goals for the lesson, whether you are preparing for college auditions, school talents shows, a desire to work with music theory, or piano skills, this is your opportunity to explore. Everything is possible.

As a professional singer myself, I am constantly auditioning on broadway, off-broadway, and for smaller local and regional theater opportunities. I believe that as a teacher I have to continue to be in the field and learning as the industry continues to change. I have to be aware of the opportunities in this business. I have been hired by pr
ofessional opera and musical theatre companies, in additional to large choral works as a soloist, and have a private studio in Washington Heights.

Prior to NYC I taught middle school choir for 200+ students, of which I received teacher of the year in 2012. I also still hold a valid teaching license in the state of Indiana and currently applying toward my NYS teaching certification.

Within my voice studio I teach in person and online lessons. While online lessons can be beneficial for students wishing to study with me that are not in the immediate vicinity, I recommend in person lessons

I look forward to hearing your beautiful voice and helping you to embrace music!

Shelley is by far the best voice teacher I have ever had. Within the short duration of time that I have worked with her, I have noticed that my voice has significantly changed (it feels and sounds better) after using her techniques. She knows what she’s talking about and offers substantial and specific criticism. She individualizes every student, in that she chooses repertoire that benefits a particular voice instead of assuming that every student has the same voice and strengths/weaknesses. This is a very important skill for a voice teacher to have. Shelley is also very good at time management within a lesson. Most importantly, she makes the experience fun! I would highly recommend Shelley to anyone who is looking for a voice teacher! Thank you Shelley!

Shelley is amazing! All my old teachers always told me to breathe to release the tension in my voice, but Shelley taught me vocal warmups to ease the strain. I now can sing better and connect to lyrics.

Hello there. My experience with the QiGong is one of beginning to pass on the great training I have had. Not only in the QiGong. It is the strength and beauty of movement in other martial arts, yoga, nature hikes.

*Please note...I am in the process of getting another video intro by me. Signing up for a series of lessons though will most likely answer all questions though. Healing movement...questions answered at a rate of a couple a week...additional material provided if you you would like.

My background with the arts, holistic practitioning, home education based on waldorf model, and even clothing design and making enhance the interaction we have.

Bringing forth from past experiences to you. This movement helps with weight i

I look forward to working with you. In a way that you can express to me as well any goals further than an authentic QiGong practice to start.

About Rahny
“Make the most of yourself for that is all there is of you.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I want to tap into that part of you that is on the prowl to answer the “ how’s and why’s”. That is where our journey will unfold. I aspire to nurture a creative and inclusive culture in my sessions.

I don't teach. I LEARN! Learning is an infinitely satiating experience for me. We will laugh, ponder, explore and even pull our hair out from frustration. That's okay because we'll do it all together. Making mistakes is a beautiful test of your resilience and will help to solidify your competencies from your hands-on experiences.

Visualizing your goals as a whole is the basis of my teaching approach. I implore my resources to reconcile the challenges of online learning to foster communication, inclusion, and interaction online. I aspire to forge a rappo
rt that grants your trust and belief in your ability to express your ideas. It is always a bit sad to say goodbye to students, but them walking away with strong foundations, developed skill sets and the ability to expand on them in the future is what I support.

I’ve logged 1,000 hours online in 1-on-1 group sessions with a 9.65 average rating. For my consistency, I was selected to teach the Oxford University Press Children Series. Being inspired by and delighting in shared experiences with my students ignites my addiction to teaching.

I’ve seized volunteer opportunities as a Teaching Assistant with after-school, summer and other teaching programs. I’m a big believer in being proactive. In addition, 8 years in Home Health with adults and children with physical and mental disabilities has had an overwhelming influence on my philosophies toward communication and personal kinships.

Music is an immense passion of mine that continually lavishes me with a wealth of transferable skills to explore creative solutions. I’ve done this by appropriating IPA, vocal pedagogy and my opera background to tackle diction issues. Working with Music and Drama Therapists in Barrier Free Theater acting troupe for adults with physical and mental disabilities to brainstorm and stage a musical starring them, has given me insight into the benefits of group collaboration and preparedness. This is at the heart of my communicative approaches.

I took lessons with Rahny last year. She helped me to refine my essay writing skills. I had never written an essay before. I’d never had a portfolio before either, but it has come in handy in more ways than I ever could’ve imagined. I’ve referenced the materials on vocabulary, pronunciation and essay writing exercises a dozen times. She still takes the time to answer some of my questions.

About Karen
I don't want to just show up for the lesson not prepared, so I will first go to the internet to research your interest if it's not something that I've previously taught. I will look at my jotted notes of everything we discussed in our introduction lesson or correspondence. I want you to know there will be customization and behind the scenes work to make this a great learning experience.

Knowing that you're laughing on occasion and don't feel awkward pronouncing new words let me know our lessons are going well. I enjoy the personal aspects of teaching.

I'm working on completing my TEFL teaching certification, but I also will be shadowing my friend's ESL class at a local university.

Being aware of difference in people's learning styles, motivations and language acquisition is key for us to be successful in you learning!

I was an ESL student myself and i know how hard it can be at times. Sometimes what the teachers teach you at school just down not stick. That is why my motto is to find the learning style that best fits each student. I give you the dictionary definition but also elaborate and tell you in my own words what it means. I give you examples that i feel you could best understand that are shifted towards your learning style, your likes and interest. I feel like when in tutoring you use things that a student likes as examples of something it sticks faster. And most of all i have been there i know how difficult it is and would love to help someone else achieve their goal through a relaxed and safe learning environment.

About Lea
My name is Leopolina , but everyone calls me Lea. I was also an ESL student back in 2009 and know how hard and intimidating it can get at times. That is why i want to help you. I shift my tutoring with each students needs, because everyone has a different speed, techniques and examples that help them learn the best. I am very friendly and have been helping kids learn for a long time. Weather it was coaching a Volleyball team or tutoring someone ; it is something i enjoy. I am very friendly and my top priority is making my students comfortable and give them a relaxed and enjoyable learning experience so that they want to keep learning. I love helping others achieve their goals and can connect on a personal level because i have been there, and i want to help others learn and get better at English and show them that learning a language does
not have to be hard and intimidating. It can be fun and relaxing and enjoyable when you have a tutor who will use examples of things that are interesting to you in life so that you learn while having fun and retain the most information possible. My greatest joy is seeing my students get better at what they are learning , it makes me so proud and happy to be able to help someone in that way; so that is what i aspire for with each student i take on. We set weekly goals and from there we take off on an adventure that is learning a new language.
