8 months now. They are not easy students- one is a total wiggle worm and the other has a speech/language delay. He handles the situation beautifully. The best part is that the boys are learning properly from the very basics- sitting at the piano, hand positioning, rhythm, reading music, and actually playing. Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hristo leads a variety of modern jazz formations, ranging from duets to quintets. For Beginner students: we will start by exploring rhythm concepts and understanding how to read music. Learning the physics of the guitar and exploring the notes in the first few positions. Learning open position chords, and simple chords progressions, major and pentatonic scales,etc.
For Intermediate students: we will continue expanding our knowledge of the higher positions of the guitar, as well as develop better sight-reading skills. Bar cords and chord transposition, and music theory. Expanding our scalar vocabulary to modes, and minor scales. Learning arpeggios and classical etudes.
For Advance students: Close interval voicings, jazz improvisation, chord to scale relationships, and harmonic substitutions are some of the concepts we will cover. Learning solo guitar playing (chord melody), incorporating walking bass lines, transcription skill and arranging skills.

I've been taking lessons from Hristo for a couple of months now. He is friendly, affable, and extremely patient. I enjoy our lessons, and have learned quite a bit in the short time we have been working together.

I knew Jessica would be the best choice after reading her About Me section... She has been my son's piano teacher since last year. We worked very well since then. My son loves play piano . She is very sweet and patient piano teacher I ever seen.

Jessica is an awesome Music and Piano teacher! She has a lot of experience both as a musician and teacher. She is very patient, keeps things fun and challenging! I especially like how she illustrates musical concepts and dynamics. She seems to be comfortable with teaching both adults and children ( I am an adult, and she also teaches my kids). I highly recommend her!!!! You will learn a lot and be inspired!
Melody's guitar lesson, include guitar techniques and music theory. Lesson package includes: 35 basic guitar chords, strumming patterns, fingerstyle accompaniment, and students' prefered song as playing and singing exercise. Goal: students will be able to play and sing pop songs with appropriate accompaniment techniques, feel success and accomplishment from the learning experience. The first lesson starts with assessing the student's needs, ask about students' music style preference, and create students' prefered music learning program. Conservatory of Music in China, one of the nine top conservatories in China. She has taught the Chinese unique musical instrument guzheng for over 10 years for adults as well as children. In addition, Melody is a board certified music therapist in the US. My 10 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons from Melody for over a year. In the beginning, my daughter had no knowledge of how to play a guitar nor was she familiar with notes or chords. Today she is able to read and play songs ranging from The Beatles to Taylor Swift (one of her favorites). I look forward to more lessons from Melody where my daughter will be able to learn more skills in playing the guitar.

So far I've had 5 classes with Marwan and I have to say he is GREAT!!
He has helped me improved significantly within this short period with both piano skills and theories. Marwan makes sure to understand your skill level and music knowledge in the 1st class and prepare the class based on your current skill level. I am in my late 20's and considered a beginner player, I was a little nervous in the beginning that I won't be able to learn as quickly as younger kids do and might struggle. But that thought disappeared immediately after my first 2 classes with Marwan. He understood it very well about what I wanted to learn and needed to improve at that stage. The class with him is super FUN.
I've had other instructors in the past but I always ended losing interests in playing after a while for various reasons. Because of that, in comparison I can say Marwan is very different from my past instructors and experiences, I enjoy the class very much and always look forward to the following week's class to find out what I will learn next.
He can be strict sometimes but because of that, you are always reminded what's not right with your plays.
I am very satisfied so far and HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marwan!!!
(But at the same time if he gets tooooo popular, I will be sad not to have the flexibility of getting his classes...lol)

Mr. Wang's teachings made impact on my son's trumpet skills in just five lessons.
