I have worked with vocal coaches since I was a kid and for the first time when working with Danny within the first lessons, I have already improved my range and control. Also just the basic use of parts of my voice that didn't even know existed. I am also learning how to use my mix and I am excited as it comes in handy in singing country pop.

Danny V is the best coach I have had in a long time. Right on our first meet, we had a talk of my long and short term goals. Danny was able to customize a lesson plan that helped me prepare from being a background vocalist to a front liner. Also helped me with how to use and hold my microphone.

Danny V is everything you could want as a vocal instructor.

I came to Danny about 3 years ago wanting to take lessons. I had a very light classical type voice but I wanted more. Danny worked with me and helped me build my voice up to be strong, powerful yet controlled. I can do everything and more that I had only dreamed of doing with my voice. Not only that but I am STILL improving. Danny helped me believe in myself and that I could achieve the voice I wanted, now I'm here and I couldn't be happier or more proud of my voice! I have and still do recommend Danny to other singers he is the best you can get!

I just started receiving instruction from Julian. I'm a complete beginner, age 51. I've only had 2 lessons so far, and am comfortable. He's to the point, and makes sure I comprehend something each time I've been to my appointments. He sends my homework to an email account. For all the rockers out there, man, this dude can jam out on bass guitar - I listened to him roll off a few Rush licks the other night.

very unprofessional. I was not late, but instead went to the wrong apartment. Instead of asking if I was running late or got lost, he sent me a riddle about being late: "To be early is to be one time. To be on time is to be late. To be late is to be in trouble." I'm an adult, I don't need to be told i'm in trouble. Rubbed me the wrong way.

Andrew F.

San Antonio, TX

About Andrew

I have experience tutoring students as well as working with people individually and in groups, as an undergrad Psychology intern, a cognitive skills trainer, and a counseling student. As an undergrad intern, I worked with elementary school children as a tutor and a mentor. As a counseling student, I have worked with various populations, from grade school students (making healthier choices) to adults (stress, anxiety, career decisions, bereavement, etc.) to older adults in hospice care, as well as facilitate groups with individuals suffering from a mental illness. Also, I teach a beginner ukule
le class at a community education center. Through my personal, academic and vocational experiences, I have gained insight about the process of working with people, educationally, musically and through goal setting (counseling and coaching).

My approach is one that is peculiar to each of my students. As an auto-didactic learner, I believe that everyone has their own way of learning. Therefore, I use an approach that I feel works well for each of my students, with regard to whether a student thinks abstractly or concretely, for example. With so many possible goals, it is important to be flexible to work effectively with each student's learning style.

I see the process as a wonderful opportunity for students to gain knowledge and awareness and to personally develop. With my patience, positive energy, personal insight and passion for working with people, I do my best during each meeting to help ensure my students are working effectively towards progress, while having a fun time doing it. I do this by helping my students create meaning and by keeping the focus of the lessons based on my student's interests and concerns. Further, I strive to feed the passion of each of my students through such means as inspiring and motivating, done genuinely. My hope is that this is undoubtedly clear during the process.

Two important things: I strive to maintain a positive collaboration with my students so that learning and development may occur. I believe this is one of the most important parts of the process. It is essential for students to share the same commitment. Also: I promote the idea of Soul. To me, Soul is any sincere display of passion. With Soul, we perform in a most genuine and graceful way. I personally believe that whether one is playing the piano, writing an essay, giving a speech, or anything (necessarily peaceful), one should do it with Soul.

Personal Development Coaching: Using my insight gained as a counseling student and my aforementioned experience working with people, I am happy to provide my personal development coaching service, which focuses on helping individuals develop personal areas identified as needing growth and development (e.g. career, anxiety, lifestyle). If interested, please, see the details I have provided under Life Coaching. I work with grade school students and adults (including college students).

My approach to personal development coaching is based on a therapeutic intervention called Gestalt Therapy (GT). The underlying idea of GT is that awareness is the key to change. Also, responsibility of the individual and living in the present are promoted. My approach looks to help the individual gain self-actualization. This allows one to discern where such things as anxiety, unhappiness, ambivalence, etc. stem from. I believe that it is important for every human being to go through such a process so that peace and awareness within brings peace and awareness to the outer world. I help facilitate the process in a genuinely humane, empathetic and professional manner.

I mentioned everything that is above so that it may be known and understood. Please, contact TakeLessons if you have any questions about any services I provide, my approach or anything!
