Angela H.

Hazelwood, MO

About Angela

Hi! My name is Angela, and I teach private piano, voice, and theory lessons. I love teaching, and have taught many ages (3 to 93) and ability levels (novice to advanced). I am a dependable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic teacher. I offer lessons for 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly sessions in my home studio. I do not offer bi-weekly lessons or lessons in the student's home.

My home is a split-level, with my private living area above and my music studio below. There is a waiting area just outside the music studio, as well as a half-bath specifically designated for students and parents. The stud
io itself contains a piano and organ, my personal music library, and additional seating for parents. There is a full-length mirror for vocal students to watch their performance skills grow, and a gumball machine for when younger students have an exceptionally good lesson.

Making music is a skill which can bring lifelong joy to the musician as well as everyone around them. While I can easily ensure that my students enjoy music-making while they are taking lessons, my ultimate goal is that students continue to want to make music throughout their entire life, even after they stop taking lessons. I firmly believe that my job as a teacher is to train my students to be independent and self-sufficient musicians. Many teachers teach by rote, playing a passage to a student and then having the student play it back. Though this method is helpful in some situations, students who are taught in this manner often find that they are only able to play the songs taught to them in lessons, and that to learn a new song they must have a teacher by their side showing them how the song goes. In my lessons, however, students are taught to learn their own music through sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, and listening to and critiquing their own playing. Over time, this allows the student more and more freedom to make music without a teacher.

James H.

Wentzville, MO

About James

My name is James, and I love music. Music is my "aeroplane". It's the window to my world. Everything I do involves music: learning it, playing it, listening to it, creating it, studying it. I think it is safe to say that music is my life's passion. If you have a passion for music, or even just a curiosity, I'd love to be the one to help you explore the magical world of music!

I've been playing for about 20 years now, and I've had almost every experience that one can have playing the piano: playing at a high competition level, public performances, both solo and ensemble, lots of private inst
ruction. My personal training is in classical piano, however I believe that all genres possess the potential to be an instrument of learning and enjoyment, AT THE SAME TIME! And I'd love to show you how!

Recently, I completed my sophomore leve classes at a local college studying music under a wonderful and passionate professor. This experience has only helped to solidify my love of musical arts. During my freshman year of studies, I was awarded Music Student of the Year (2008-2009) by the head of the music department on my campus. And I have completed my associate level music requirements at the end of spring term 2010. Ever since, I have been building my student base and honing my teaching skills.

James has been a real inspiration to me in playing the piano. I had been playing the piano over 30 years when I started lessons with him. He has helped me to become more expressive, to create medleys and arrangements, and to modulate to other keys and key signatures. I have gained more of an appreciation for different musical styles and have progressed further than I ever imagined. I highly recommend him as a patient and knowledgeable teacher.

Daniel was the perfect tutor for my son's prep for the GED. He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

About Daniela

Hi ! My name is Daniela and I can't wait to meet you!
I have been teaching piano and theory since 1994 and have loved helping my students to discover beautiful world of music. Seeing my students grow into well rounded and educated people that love art, are able to recognize different styles of music, express their feelings and emotions on this wonderful instrument makes me really happy.
I strongly believe that a chance to go on a big stage and play on a great Steinway piano in front of the people, makes a big difference in children's lives: teaches them self control, gives them great
sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Taking part in festivals and piano competitions helps with building high self esteem even more.
I look forward to helping you and your children to reach your goals!

My daughters and I took lessons from Daniela between 1998 and 2009, 11 years. Daniela taught my youngest daughter through high school, preparing her with excellent skills, technique, and theory to enter into music conservatory. Daniela is gifted, energetic, and passionate in bringing out the best in each student to the best of his/her ability. Her professionalism, passion and high standards are reflected in each lesson and recital as well as in her choice of repertoire. I can say with the utmost confidence that a better teacher would be very difficult to find.

We switched instructors three years ago and we have been so pleased with the boys' progress, not only in their ability but also in their understanding of technique and musicality. Daniela has helped them to advance beyond merely playing correctly to playing with understanding, appreciation, expression, and emotion. She doesn't take her students one song at a time through a book, but she helps the kids select a piece they want to learn to master, and then they work until it is played with perfection.

I have known Vinnie for quite a few years now and have gotten to jam with him a couple times at the music shop he used to work at. Not only is he an incredible player, but an amazing teacher as well. If you are looking to learn theory, phrasing, or just fun riffs to jam to, this is the only teacher you will need.
