I teach beginner to advanced piano courses that focus on technique, sight-reading, and improvisation.
Students of all ages in a personal relaxed atmosphere.
Customized to each student. If the student has not previously taken lessons I begin with the John Thompson Piano Course with the John W. Schaum Note Speller for Music Theory. This allows the student the widest possible experience even if they already have an ear for music.
I also believe in supplementing the Piano course with the student's favorite musical styles as soon as they are able to handle the available arrangements. Also, I encourage Holiday music as it allows the student to share more fully the musical experience with Friends and Family.
Though the primary purpose for piano lessons is to increase skill and understanding of a particular instrument, it is my hope that this will nurture an appreciation for music itself. In light of this, piano lessons will include instruction in piano technique, sight-reading, music theory, ear-training, and music history. Students will find that they are challenged by music of increasing difficulty. Part of the joy of learning an instrument is the feeling of accomplishment as students progress.
