I've worked with stroke victims to retain their ability to communicate; actors to better their ability to speak clearly and many singers. I can also assist with voice over work and reading ability.
Hello hello! Perhaps you are reading this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.
I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?
Music has b
lessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.
I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.
You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.
*** Lesson Details *** In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.
We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.
What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.
Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.
*** Travel Equipment *** No travel.
*** Specialties *** Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

Ms. Marsha is such a great teacher. My son who is 11 years old is learning a lot in such a short period of time. She makes it easy for him to understand how to read notes and how to play them in such a fun way. We were just going to try 8 sessions, but after just 2 sessions, we would like to continue for more. We just love her! I'm glad she had an opening when we were looking for a teacher.

A wonderful experience
I took vocal lessons from David. I had taken some singing lessons when I was younger, but needed to brush up. I sing in a band, and David helped my song performance. I will be taking more lessons in the future.

Both my daughters are learning guitar from David and they love it. I am impressed with their improvement and David even got them to "jam" together. When I ask them what they want to be when they grow up, they say they are going to be rockstars. I would gladly refer David to anyone searching for an enthusiastic and wonderful instructor.
I work with students with lisps and help to correct improper consonants such as lazy "R" and assist in increasing enunciation and diction.
Grace H. studied at Brigham Young University on a vocal scholarship. She later learned her teaching techniques from her teacher, Helen Blackstone, who wrote the book, "Even You Can Sing." She has appeared in many local theatres including Garbeau's, Music Circus, Imagination, and Magic Circle in a variety of roles, including Guenevere in "Camelot" Maria in "West Side Story", the Narrator in "Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and the Baker's Wife in "Into the Woods." She was named Star Entertainer of the Year and earned a Bill Birdsall award for her role as the witch in "Into the Woo
ds." She toured in Japan, Hawaii and Scotland as a featured vocalist and loves all styles of music. As a vocal instructor, she has trained singers for competitions, taught techniques for theatrical singing auditions, choir singing and even opera. She was the jazz and concert choir teacher for the Visual and Performing Arts Charter School and her choirs won gold and silver awards at choir festivals.
*** Lesson Details *** I believe singing should be fun and not scary. The first thing we do at a lesson is put you at ease. I teach beginners to advance, kids to adults. Believe in yourself and we can make beautiful music together!!!

Great first lesson experience. Look forward to the next lesson.
My name is Ben! I have been playing and performing on the guitar for over ten years! I took guitar lessons myself for about six years and then branched out on my own, learning from everyone I could. I took every opportunity I could to play, including leading worship at my local church, and starting my own band! Since then, I have mastered over 12 different instruments, but none can compare to my love for the guitar! I studied music in college and became a music major with a vocal emphasis when I was in my early 20’s. Since then I have enjoyed teaching and performing as I continue to enjoy
learning new things everyday!
I also have been a professional college level English, ESL, and Math tutor for over 5 years! I have been an English major for several years and love to both read and write, having authored several assorted works ranging from poetry, science, and philosophy! In addition I have enjoyed teaching and doing math since I was young! If you struggle with pre-algebra, or simply don't understand numbers, then I can help!
*** Lesson Details *** Each person has a different learning style, and learns at different rates. Because of this, I modify my curriculum based on the needs and learning styles of each of my individual students. No two students are alike, why should their lessons be? Growing up I had several teachers who knew a lot about what they taught, but struggled in communicating and teaching their ideas in a way that was relatable and easy to understand. It is my personal goal to deliver the same quality instruction and education with respect towards the student and their respective learning style!
I teach a range of subjects in a variety of disciplines. In music I teach everything from sight reading, music theory, and songwriting, but my main areas of focus for teaching are guitar dynamics, ear training, and practical performance techniques which are all skills used for actually playing, performing, and enjoying the guitar!
I also offer practical playing and performance training for worship leaders and church musicians that gives the same quality instruction and education used in the general curriculum, with a focus on modern and traditional worship arts material, worship team formation, and organization, and worship leader training which is open to all aspiring church musicians and worship leaders. Some skills that are taught in this course in addition to onstage performance skills are set-list planning, worship team building and maintenance, team communication, church staff and body relations, and basic worship theology and doctrine.
Academically I tutor English and Math. I specialize in helping students with anything from grammar, essay writing, and developing their writer's voice, to test preparation and college success techniques and tips! I also tutor basic math to pre-algebra.
*** Studio Equipment *** Living room w/ guitars, amps, and seating
*** Specialties *** Rock, Folk, Country, Indie, Worship.

Always had the desire to play piano in my earlier years and never pursued the opportunity. Now I have a desire to spruce up my life so I decided on playing guitar. I have no music experience, totally a beginner. With the help of Ben, my trainer has taught me so much. Ben has patients with me and doesn't rush my training ability to learn. Ben is flexible, a great coach and my training location is in a safe and comfortable area.
Learning proper breathing techniques, diction work and projection of the voice. Working on proper presentation skills and building confidence in front of an audience.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Southern California and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Theatre from the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development. I worked as a classroom teacher for four years and have directed over 17 theatrical productions. I have also worked in various capacities on a number of other theatre endeavors. I worked closely with the American River College Theatre Department and am currently working on starting my own theatre troupe.
I work with my students on creating the best learning experience possible. I
tailor all of my lessons to the needs of my students. Using various techniques and activities, my goal for my students is to learn to treasure performing and build confidence and truthfulness on stage.
My ultimate goal for my students is to get them in productions. I will work to make every lesson rich and help the actor prepare to become a star.
