Nero C. Philadelphia, PA

Strumming, jazz chords, or just adapt your favorite songs to the uke.

About Nero

I have been teaching music for 16 years. I grew up on the 2nd floor of my father's music store in Central PA and have been around music my whole life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts where I studied jazz guitar with Pat Martino, Jimmy Bruno, Steve Giordano, and Tom Giacabetti. I was one of the original teachers during the formative years at the Paul Green School of Rock Music where I later went on to be the Music Director of the Philadelphia and Downingtown Schools. During that time, I helped many students prepare and get accepted to music schools, ran and developed music summer camps, and organized concerts where the students performed the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and many more of rock's finest band at every major venue in ...

Mandolin Lessons

I recently started playing mandolin on my own - and decided to take lessons to make sure that my technique was correct. -- All I can say is that Nero is the best music teacher I have ever had - not to mention, a gifted musician. He makes learning fun, and his approach and patience allows you to easily pick up new techniques and skills. I hope to take lessons with Nero for a long time!!!!

My first Flamenco Guitar lesson

Had my first lesson with Nero. Nero was very patient and the lesson progressed at a comfortable pace. He didn't bombard me with too much information yet identified learning moments at relevant times during the session that increased the value of our time. I played clarinet for about 6 years over 17 years ago and haven't touched a musical instrument since so I feel like a beginner... He was sensitive to my inexperience and led with the session with a relaxing demeanor.
Peter A. Morrisville, PA

About Peter

My name is Pete. I've been playing guitar for over 15 years. In 2011 I graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in Professional Music. There, I spent several semesters studying with Tomo Fujita (former teacher of John Mayer and Eric Krasno). I've also studied with legendary guitarist Pat Metheny and Jack Pezanelli. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, and Jimi Hendrix are responsible for inspiring me to play guitar and I specialize in teaching blues and jazz guitar, bass, and piano. I firmly believe that every serious musician should study ear training and music theory and I incorporate these areas in my lessons as long as the student wants to study this way. I've performed with a bunch of great artists in the Boston and Philadelphia area.

Peter is the second teacher I have studied under for the guitar. The first taught me, as a raw 60 year old, a few chords, tab and strumming technique. It took years. Peter has taken me in a few months far beyond this. Classical guitar, music theory and 'finger style' playing. I am amazed that this young man has the patience and teaching ability to move an old timer like myself forward. He is incredibility flexible, not only in scheduling lessons but in shear musical ability - it didn't phase him in the least when I showed up with a electric bass one day and asked him to show me some basics. Now I'm studying both! Highly Recommended.

Exceeds Expectations!

Peter not only has the credentials and talent, but also possesses a keen ability to effectively instruct by adjusting the pace and content of each lesson. I had high expectations and he exceeded them. Furthermore, Peter is very flexible and selflessly accommodating, when needed, which is invaluable to me considering my busy schedule coupled with the fact that I must travel 1.5 hours each way to attend lessons (Confirmed, it is worth 1.5 hrs. to get there.). I fully endorse Peter and believe he would be a perfect fit for all levels and musical interests, especially if you are interested in blues and / or jazz. Believe me... don't hesitate.

Mike has been very patient and helpful and takes the time to carefully explain the instruction given. Besides being a great teacher Mike is very personable and that makes the lessons stress free. Taking lessons from an accomplished working musician is the best possible choice.
Thank you Mike for taking me on as a student!

Mike is the best!!

I always wanted to learn Violin, but at 26 I thought I'd never get very far. Mike is teaching me Improvisation so that I can jam with my bluegrass friends. After 9 months of lessons with Mike, I am starting to really understand my instrument and am able to jam with my friends! I never thought I would progress this quickly and I know that is all due to the way Mike has taught me and teaching me certain things every week that I can build on and practice at home. I definitely recommend Mike for lessons on any instrument, he is a talented multi-instrumentalist who is interested in all genres of music from classical to country, he is accessible and doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you don't get it right, but he is also tough enough on you that you progress very quickly. He is also interested in teaching you what you want to learn, the right way, so you can get the most out of your musical experience. Playing fiddle is now one of my favorite things to do, I get so much joy out of it, all thanks to Mike and a little hard work!! :)

We definitely recommend!

My son just started guitar (electric) and he's young-9. So getting him started on an instrument is no easy task but Mike is very patient and makes the lessons fun & interesting while teaching strong music structure. I can't believe how much they can cover in a half hour when it takes me a half hour just to get him to get his school homework binder out at home! I really look forward to watching my son progress. Great stuff!!

Over the past 2 months, I’ve found Jimmy to be a phenomenal teacher. While I’ve spent my whole life experimenting with my voice, what I’ve learned in these past months has completely transformed both how I understand singing and my voice itself. No doubt, I still have a long way to go, but over this short period of time, I really cannot believe how much Jimmy has already helped me tap into a fullness and range I never thought my voice had.

I think what’s best about Jimmy is he fully understands what it takes to become a good singer, and how to fully find one’s singing voice. I will admit, the exercises Jimmy has you perform seem a bit odd at first, but it’s all part of the learning process to understand the mechanics of how to sing properly. Like all things worthwhile, results don’t happen overnight (although a couple months isn’t too shabby), but I can promise that if you study with Jimmy, you will have a teacher who has walked the path, knows it backwards and forwards, and will be able to help train you to sing fuller, healthier, and typically with more range. Furthermore, Jimmy tailors your lessons to your genre of choice!

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Jimmy is a great instructor. He takes you seriously no matter what you skill or knowledge level is. When I started with Jimmy I could play guitar but generally only Cowboy chords.

Jim was patient, he analyzed how I played , what I knew and he tailored lessons around what I knew. That way I got the most out of my time and money spent. I can go on and on about Jimmy but for you sake I'll just say that I highly recommend him

Ukulele was recently added to my curriculum in the past 2 years. I consider ukulele to be one of the most simple methods of getting that great music hobby in to anyone's life. We will study how theory applies to the instrument while learning and performing easy to learn songs selected by the student. Music is fun, and the ukulele proves it! Advanced theory and techniques used by contemporary famous ukulele players including Jake Shimabakuro and James Hill will be considered.

About Mason

My Name is Mason and I've been teaching music to students of all ages since I was 14. I originally taught at a facility near Reading, PA called Zeswitz. While I worked there I studied along side other seasoned professionals in genres like jazz, heavy metal and folk styles. Currently I run a small business. My experience, since I was 8 years old, was built on private lessons from select very accomplished and certified guitarists. I also played in several profitable bands including jazz duos, classic rock trios and currently a blues duo with my lovely wife. I'm also always building and helping local bands. I'm very pro learning and never satisfied with my playing enough to say I don't have to practice any longer. I share to same attitude towards my students. There are always new grounds to ...

I've been a student for a few years now. As a producer, I lack the ability to perform. Mason goes beyond traditional curriculum and helps me use the abilities I already have to bring to the stage. I am pretty skilled in my musical career, but now I'm becoming polished. Thank you! Absolutely recommend!
