When I first heard my dad play "Blackbird," I was hooked. I borrowed my little brother's guitar and started teaching myself from some old Hal Leonard books. There was something so exhilarating about making a piece of wood produce beautiful sounds. Soon I was taking lessons on electric guitar, playing Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. My teacher at the time pushed me toward classical guitar and I starting attending evening classes at the local community college when I was in high school. I fell in love with making music and decided to make it my career. I earned my Bachelor's of Music from Arizona State University, studying under Frank Koonce. During my first few years there, I focused on technique and commissioning new works for the guitar, while exploring the vast repertoire of music ...
I have a master's degree in musical education. My main instrument is guitar, and I have played in rock groups, studied classical guitar with a student of Pepe Romero, and am a solid blues player. Receiving my NYS teaching certificate has allowed me to teach band and lessons in public and private schools for twelve years. In my younger years, and while in college studying music, I have developed great piano skills as well. *** Lesson Details *** I will cater to your musical taste while teaching technique and theory. At 23 years of age, I feel I have come a long way with my passion for music. From southern Louisiana, I began my involvement in music by taking piano lessons at the age of 5. I began trumpet studies in my school bands starting at the age of 10. I have won numerous music awards and am pursuing a career in orchestral trumpet performance. I love sharing my knowledge with students and inspiring them to become better musicians. I have given trumpet lessons and clinics at various K-12 schools around Louisiana while studying music education at Loyola University New Orleans. I recently moved to Rochester, NY, to pursue my degree of Master of Music Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music, studying under James Thompson.
Christian D. has been playing saxophone for seventeen years. Growing up in Rochester, N.Y, he attended Churchville-Chili High School and attempted to take every music class his school had to offer. He completed his BM in Music Education and Saxophone Performance at SUNY Fredonia. There he studied classical with Dr. Wildy Zumwalt and jazz with Bruce Johnstone. At Fredonia, Christian was involved in everything the music program had to offer. He participated in major ensembles, a saxophone quartet, saxophone ensemble, a big band, and a jazz sax combo in addition to his regular course load. He was a ...
