I have taken 3 sessions with Isabelle and so far I am already so much more confident in my ability to learn conversational French that will help me work my way towards being fluent in French. She is patient and describes everything in such detail until I am able to fully understand what she is teaching. Having this role is so important, and she far exceeds all of my expectations!

French is among the most important languages in the world; over 7% of the world's population speak it and it is the third most important language in the business world. Unfortunately, French is notorious for being gratuitously difficult. On the bright side, I have over 7 years of experience with French, I speak it fluently and I teach it up until the intermediate level. I tutor French in a fun and engaging way that captivates my students and has them speaking it in a provisional amount of time. Along with the basics, I also delve into the technicalities of French grammar, spelling and reading. You've come to the right person, as you'll never have to be craven taking your next French test, impressing your French-speaking friend or visiting a francophone country after I 'fragment French'.

About Amadou
I am a distinguished graduate from Illinois Tech with a bachelor's of mechanical engineering. I make it my duty to break down many of the complexities in math, science and engineering that have been plaguing students since the beginning of time. I have over 10 years of teaching experience teaching students of all ages math, science and ACT/SAT prep who have went on to make 180 degree turns in their grades. This field experience has allowed me to develop the patience and understanding that is crucial in producing stellar students.

As an engineering-inclined individual, I encourage an exemplary study ethic in my students as well as an organized and systematic approach geared towards maximizing student grades/scores. I also bring results by relating to my students by incorporating elements of the things that they like (sports, hobbies, m
usic, etc...) into their most challenging courses allowing them to even potentially develop a passion for their most difficult courses. I always make a conscious effort to work at each student's own pace and I make it my priority to decompose the most challenging topics into components that can be more easily internalized by my students, effectively increasing their grades and giving them the self-confidence and enthusiasm they need to get killer grades. I guarantee quality, commitment, and results!

Having lived in over 20 countries has also permitted me to maintain my patience, composure and sense of flexibility and open-mindedness when dealing with even the most extreme personalities. I believe that everyone has potential; however potential is worthless unless put in motion. And experts like me take pride in our abilities to give students that push, that jolt of energy that galvanizes them into pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, allowing them to achieve academic excellence.

As I was born and raised in Geneva, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, French is my mother tongue. With a Swiss degree of pediatric nursing and teaching, I worked more than 15 years with children, families and adult students. Finding the best way to learn depending on who you are and what goals you have is one of my specialties. I like to provide a dynamic and a fun learning environment.
Having learnt as multiple second languages, such as English, Italian, Spanish and German, I’m very aware of the process of learning a new language.
I can provide vocabulary, grammar, verbs, conversation as well as cultural aspects from different French speaking countries, as I was working with people from France and I spent 3 years in Montreal, Quebec.
I moved to Richmond a year ago, bringing many French books and movies for all ages, which we could use during lessons.

About Evelyne
I’m 44 years old. I moved from Geneva, Switzerland a year ago for my husband’s work. He’s a pediatric clinical and research physician at VCU (MCV). I’m the mother of two teenagers at the Steward's School. We are a native French speaking family.
I have worked since 1999 as a pediatric nurse and a nursing instructor for critical care children and neonates.
I have Swiss degrees in nursing, paediatric, critical care, lactation consultant and pedagogy/teaching.
I would love to tutor to share my knowledge of French language and culture, using my pedagogical background and a good sense of humour.

Evelyne volunteered at my daughter’s school while in Canada. She liked to be involved and useful in different school activities involving children of various age groups. She is very reliable and was always patient with the kids. Her love of children was clearly visible at all times. Perhaps more importantly, the children adored her too. Her intelligence, caring nature, sense of humour and her ability to adapt very quickly to the children’s needs makes it easy to highly recommend her for tutoring.
