Private vocal coaching sessions with me are for everyone who wants to explore the depth of their true voice.

In singing, the body is our instrument; when the body is in alignment with the thoughts and emotions, the voice can vibrate its clearest tones and truest sound. I guide a full exploration through the somatics of body posture and movement as it relates to emotional and mental blockages, thereby uncovering the very real possibility of singing with your truest voice.

When we ask to know our true voice we are asking to know our voice not only in a conceptualized intellectual way, but in a fully experienced, known and embodied way

I teach from a lifetime of experience. Over 25 years of classical vocal training, music theory, and basic piano, which aids and speeds the learning process in vocal training.

About Emily

I came into the world with a song in my heart. I spent most of my formative years in classic vocal techniques training and performance, studying with university professors of Vocal Music. With over 25 years of experience in vocal performance and technique, my life is dedicated to the intricatel

Wonderful time exploring and learning about our potential and capabilities as singers. One of the things that still echoes months after our lesson, is the reminder to do it for joy! To sing first for ourselves, our cells, or divinity. Focusing on how my body feels and is positioned has definitely changed the game, allowing access to smoother and more relaxed singing experience. Overall I was pleased and would recommend Emily to anyone seeking to further understand using their voice as an instrument.
Laura
I’ve had the chance to experience Emily’s coaching in two settings one on one and group voice lessons. Both have left me feeling open and connected to my voice and it’s potential.

Emily’s intuitive nature allows her to tailor the voice lessons to your needs. She uses her background in meditation, yoga, and breath work combined with classic training in voice to curate a transformative experience.

If you are looking for a holistic approach to voice lessons don’t hesitate to reach out to her!
Parker
I reached out to Emily for some practice with the very basics of singing. I had never had any practice with fundamentals and form before and she helped me get on the right track. Emily is very tuned in to herself and her clients during a lesson and can help you find ways in which your body is keeping you from reaching your full potential. The internet connection was lost once and we reconnected but there was no problems with lagging or anything of that nature.

As an active operatic soprano, opera is my pride and joy.
I strive to help people develop their own unique singing voice, working on breath, vowels, and vocal placement. I have sung leading roles in both opera companies and leading universities and conservatories in the Pacific Northwest and New York City alike.

Lessons will be completely individualized and I have a specific concentration in the production of a healthy classical technique and have vast experience with choosing vocal repertoire.

I studied with Marissa for two years when we both lived in the same area she moved and I went off to college. She is such a positive, kind and hard-working teacher. On the rare occasion that she doesn't know something, she does her homework and comes back with a novel of information. If I was ever unsure about a concept and none of her (many) techniques worked, she would always heavily research before the next lesson. She was always great at communicating with her students and goes above and beyond. She has a great reputation and was able to help me get into my dream college. My voice teacher here is very impressed with what I have learned from her.

I’ve been taking lessons with Marissa for the past two years and she has influenced me tremendously as a musician and an artist. I recommend her to anybody!

I am studying to become a professional classical singer. Through my own training, I have discovered that having an amazing teacher – one who is supportive, caring, and hard working, and who will push you and work with you to be better – is the most important tool an aspiring musician can have. I believe that every student is different, as no person's body is the same, and no vocal instrument is the same. Based on my performance in the Teaching of Singing course at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, I was selected to be a voice teacher to non-Conservatory students at Oberlin College. I have now had several students, two of whom, with my assistance, have just been accepted to prestigious summer programs in classical voice. Though I have only been teaching voice to others for a year now, I have been teaching myself alongside my own teachers through practice and independent work for the past nine years, and I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing.

As a beginner with no experience in vocal training, I was able to learn the basics of posture, setup and breath and of course singing. I enjoyed lessons with Rachel and would highly recommend working with her.

"To say that my opera lessons with Margo have been miraculous would be an understatement. My family and friends had repeatedly encouraged me to pursue my singing and I wrote it off as hyperbole. When I finally decided to take it seriously I was afraid I was too old to start pursuing a career in the arts. Margo explained to me that some performers can be in their 30s or 40s before reaching full vocal maturity. She immediately took me under her wing which has resulted in near perfect pitch. Under her tutelage I have learned to evoke emotion from my audience thru both song and dramatization. Needless to say, her being multi-lingual has no doubt made her uniquely qualified to do so. If you want a disciplined, dedicated, no nonsense instructor, call her. You won't be disappointed."

"Julian Kwok is a technician's technician. He can take large, unruly instruments and whisper them into efficiently wielded, marketable product. He can develop voices of any type to their full potential, but his specialty is, arguably, large voices. He expects a high level of commitment, so my advice: do the work. Doing the work will maximize your experience. He's keenly sensitive and understanding. If you're serious about a career and developing your voice in a healthy way, this is the guy."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
