About Brejoya
Brejoya grew up singing!! In high school, she was the soprano section leader and won SUPERIOR ratings on the district and state levels. She began training her voice in 9th grade. She attended college as a voice major. While there along with starting her own business as a voice teacher, she was the assistant choir director for her college's Concert Choir as well as the Minister of Music at a local church. Brejoya continued to teach privately upon graduation and became the Director of Choral activities in 2011 at a High School. She was named the First Year Teacher of the Year for the County. Her choir has performed in the community and earned EXCELLENT ratings at district competitions. Brejoya was the featured soprano in a Spiritual Workshop in the summer of 2011, in the musical Hairspray as a "Dynamite" in the summer of 2012,a part of the
Town n Gown Choir with a local University in December 2012 and 2013 and she attends church where she sings in the Choir.

I haven't been involved in formal vocal training before, but working with Brejoya has been a great experience. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to teaching the concepts I wanted to learn, and she gave positive feedback and critique that helped me improve. I take music very seriously but at the same time I like my lessons to be fun and a joyous experience. I am very patient and helpful with any strugg
les that may seem too hard to the student. I will start my students off with the basic vocal warm ups and then move on to material that they would like to cover and if so the student doesn't have material to cover, I will present them with material. Being a singer is not easy at all, so I will challenge my students by giving exercises that challenge them to sing for proficient. I will also bring in material that is brand new and ask the students questions about the piece. The student is in the lesson to learn everything about music, so any type of material that I feel will benefit them and help them move closer to their goal, I will definitely present to them. After 3 to 6 months students will be able to sing in the 3 minor keys and the major key. The student will also have knowledge and know how to sing at least 3 different modes. The singer will know how to read basic sheet music and perform it with solfege. The singer will also have 4 songs of my choice or their choice mastered and ready to perform in front of an audience. Lastly, the singer will have knowledge of proper breath control while performing, usage of a microphone, and intonation.

Keanon is a GREAT teacher/artist/musician/mentor

I've been working with Keanon for almost a year now. Aside from being an amazing vocalist himself, he does everything he can to help students reach their full potential and find their voice. He makes lessons fun while constantly keeping you challenged. There's always encouragement from him to strive to be better, which can really bring the best out of singers. Keanon did a great job with catering to each singer's style in the group workshop. He is highly knowledgeable about singing and gives great pointers to make your song sound better. I have been teaching this subject for over 13 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected primarily from the Broadway and West End rep based on the student's learning needs and with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique (enunciation, breathing, pitch/intonation, etc.) and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

About Troy
Composer Troy W. graduated from the New England Conservatory, earning his Bachelors, Masters (cum laude) and Graduate Diploma while studying with mentor Malcolm Peyton. After spending a year studying with Lukas Foss in Boston, Mr. W. moved to Houston in 2001 where he continued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music.

During his time as a teacher with the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Troy taught classes in music fundamentals and music theory for pre-college students. He has also served on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Piano teaching courses in Form & Analysis for pre-college students.

Troy also has maintained a private studio, tutoring and teaching private lessons in composition, ear training, voice, piano, literature, and history for over ten
years. Students who have studied with him come from a wide range of backgrounds with different goals. Those who have continued with musical studies in college have consistently placed out of at least the first two semesters of music theory and achieved advanced placement in their chosen fields of study. Those who chose a different path continue to benefit from the education and training they received from taking music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
There is no "standard formula" to lessons. Each student has their own unique background, needs, and goals. Lessons tend to be somewhat casual but are structured in such a way as to meet the unique requirements of the student.

To accomplish your goals, there are a few requirements and basic expectations that the student and parent must meet.
The first is practice. Students are expected to practice daily for at least the length of their lesson time. This, above all else, is essential to progress. It is also expected that a parent will attend lessons for students who are too young to drive themselves here. It's important for a parent to guide the student's practice time (particularly for younger students) to ensure that the most is gained from it. This is why I ask that a parent observe lessons.
Each student or parent should bring to each lesson a notebook, pencils (with erasers). The notebook will be used to record notes about each lesson, homework, practice advice, etc. Pencils (not pens...nobody's perfect!) are used by composers to record their creations and performers to mark their music. Both of these essential practices are subject to changing thought and must be open to change. So no ink, please!

Performers: It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Lessons are not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected based on the student's learning needs but also with their input. Note: Voice students must be at least 16 years of age.

Composers: Just as with performers, it is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons. Many young composers have great ideas but can only hear them in their heads or play them on an instrument. Lessons will allow you to obtain the skills to write them down with greater speed, accuracy, and clarity. More advance students will also include exploring a wider range of harmonic languages, advanced notation, instrumentation, orchestration, and aural skills. Students should come to the first lesson with examples of their work, either written, notated, or recorded in a digital format. They should be prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• To reschedule a lesson, more than one day notice is required.

• Make up lessons must be scheduled before the next regular lesson.

• A make up lesson cannot be scheduled in place of a regular lesson.

• If, for any reason, two 30-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 30-minute lessons, not one 60 minute lesson which is a different rate.

• If, for any reason, two 45-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 45-minute lessons, not one 90 minute lesson which is a different rate.

Troy is a really patient instructor. I started these lessons as an adult with no prior musical training. I am enjoying the lessons and despite the fact that I never quite have enough time to practice as I should, sometimes even only having the lesson time with him, I still feel I made some progress. I also enjoy the discussions we have on music theory. I am trained as a scientist and when I read theory I have parse it through my own way of thinking about things. I find that Troy is a really good teacher and able to communicate in a manner that is easy to understand. I highly recommend him!

I have been with Troy almost two years and feel I have accomplished more than I ever thought was possible in that amount of tome. Troy has been patient and knows just the right amount of push to give to keep me advancing without stress.
He is tremendously knowledgeable about many aspects of music composition, theory and technique and is fun to be with during every lesson.

I've had a very positive experience with Troy for vocal training. I'm an adult learner with some classical guitar experience, but I've always been terrified of singing. Since starting lessons many months ago, I've noticed steady improvement in my vocal skills and confidence. Our repertoire so far has included popular songs, broadway, and classical. Troy has a deep and broad understanding of music in general, and our lessons have expanded based on my interests to include ear training, music theory, and writing arrangements. Troy is both knowledgeable and approachable - a rare combination - and I would highly recommend him to students of all backgrounds.

Voice lessons - I have created a unique and wonderful vocal method, "Yoga for the Voice," which combines ancient yoga breathing exercises with special vocal exercises to give you a "complete vocal tune-up." Piano lessons - I teach a wide range of piano styles at levels from beginner to early advanced, beginning around age 5. 2. depending on your level, master Hanon exercises 1-12, major and minor scales, major and minor arpeggios

Songwriting lessons - I will teach you how to create a great song, in the style you wish to write in. Country songs, pop songs, rock tunes, r'n' b, folk, etc. - all of these genres have "unwritten rules" about how to put together an effective song. We will utilize special songwriting exercises and tools to help you learn to be a wonderful songwriter.

DJ lessons - I teach beat matching, turntable fine-tuning and repertoire selection to help you become the DJ you aspire to be. I own crates and crates of vinyl records and CDs, and I have DJ'd all over the world to enthusiastic crowds, so I can teach you to attain a real joy and skill in the art of turntablism.

Yoga lessons - I am a fully KRI-certified yoga teacher and I can help you develop a valuable yoga routine to help you achieve your health and relaxation goals. We will choose from literally hundreds of exercises and breathing techniques specifically geared to your needs and wants.

I’v studied voice for several years, with several teachers, but I still don’t feel I’ve reached my potential. Although I’ve only taken a couple of lessons with Amy, I think she is going to be the one that helps me reach my goal.

Amy is a super teacher! I saw massive improvements in my voice within the first couple of lessons. She has helped me to stop sounding like the nasally and annoying person I was before taking lessons with her.

I teach voice in a student-centered fashion—First, I learn about the student’s interests, goals and previous vocal training. Then, I create a personalized curriculum designed to keep them interested and reach their goals. Proper technique, including warm ups and cool downs, is key. Music is my passion and I’m able to share my own professional experience as I have been singing professionally for the past 25 years. I began my career in musical theatre and then went on to lead numerous projects and bands that range from jazz, rock, and country to pop.

Hi! My name is Pam. If you have a song in your heart , a love for music and a desire to sing, let me show you how you can sing your best. As I began my own classical training I was frequently frustrated because my range was limited, and there were breaks in my voice. My teachers didn’t know how to help me so they criticized me and were not able to help me. It took years to find a mature, experienced teacher who understood how to use good vocal technique to help me express my artistic musicality.

After more than 20 years of teaching and performing, I know how to teach a successful vocal technique that works. I want to share the knowledge and technique I have acquired with you. Let me help you develop your voice to its fullest potential.

When I came to Pamela for voice instruction I had a limited range. There were lots of songs I wanted to sing but because I had a low voice I couldn't reach the high notes. Pamela showed me how to use breath support breathing and how to sing the vowels of every word so that the songs flow. Also I have more confidence in my singing now and I am making really fast progress.

I have worked with Pam as an accompanist, and have played for numerous performances in theater and with choirs. Pam is an outstanding performer herself and very good as a vocal coach with both adults and children. I highly recommend her as a teacher for anyone wanting to improve their vocal skills.

Pamela K's classical voice coaching was hugely responsible for preparing me to launch a professional singing career. She taught me correct breathing, the dynamics of shading, stage presence, foreign (and English) language diction and pronunciation, and most importantly the TECHNIQUE of classical singing.
Her coaching expertise and patience helped me to achieve my goals of tone/pitch, volume/dynamics and stage presence.
Thanks to Ms. K's coaching I landed the lead role last year in the Musicale des Artistes Repertory Co. production of "Candide"

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico has studied orchestral conducting under Pedro Bocotan, Leonardo Gasparini, Lynn McLain, Dr Suzanne Pence, Glenn Richter, Carlos Riazuelo and Hector Guzman.
He has conducted several orchestras in Mexico, as a guest conductor appearing in various cities throughout the country, conducting Mozart, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Vivaldi, Mascagni and Beethoven among others. He currently works as the cover conductor for the Plano Symphony Orchestra and Irving Symphony, as well as working as assistant to Maestro Hector Guzman.
In the operatic field, he has conducted the operas Elixir of Love by Gaetano Donizetti, Rigoletto by Verdi and Amahl, the Night Visitors by G. C. Menotti and Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell.
​He earned his bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in voice perf
ormance and minored in conducting, continuing his education at LSU's school of music where he earned his Master's degree in orchestral conducting. In Austin, he conducted works by Stephen Sondheim (Into the Woods) and Dan Studney (Reefer Madness.)
