I have trained as a classical singer since I was 13 years old, and have sung arias from Mozart to Gershwin. In my experience, healthy singing is the basis for singing any genre of music from Baroque to Broadway. There is a tendency to assume that to sing opera, you have to have a LOUD or BIG voice. I disagree. . .I think a well-placed and healthy voice can sing anything. Many of the "old time" bel canto singers such as Caruso or Galli-Curci did not have massive heavy voices, but perfect technique. Did you know, by the way, that a well-placed bel canto voice can fill an entire football stadium without any amplification? Therefore, I stress the basic bel canto principles of singing with every student: breath support, natural vocal placement, and musicality. Every student will also have the opportunity to develop musical skills such as sight reading, ear training, music theory, and diction, but all in the context of a fun and relaxed environment. We will work on the language, ...

About Jennifer
Hello, my name is Jennifer and I have over a decade of experience in teaching, conducting, and performing in the Boston-area. I teach from my home studio in Braintree, Ma and am accepting new students at this time. I look forward to working with you to develop your singing voice, musical literacy, and confidence in performing. I train students in the Italian Bel Canto (beautiful singing) method because it builds strong and healthy voices. I welcome children over age five, older beginners, intermediate students, and amateurs. I believe every student deserves quality musical and vocal training, regardless of whether they intend to pursue a musical career or not. As a teacher and singer, I focus mainly on classical singing which develops a good foundation for other genres. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I have been working with Jen on music for over ten years. Just recently, in the last 6 months or so, I went to her to help me tackle a specific problem in my voice. Within just a few lessons, she developed an insight into how to help me, and we began to make real progress. I now have a specific pathway in which I am confident that with persistent work, I can overcome this problem. Jen has real insight into the human voice, and true compassion and patience when working with others.

Learning to sing can be scary! It is my mission to provide a safe, supportive learning environment for students where they can develop skills to be a confident performer. It is important to me that students study in genres that they are the most comfortable; I myself have a love of all genres of music, including classical, musical theater, pop, rock, folk, and even punk. In my studio, students will learn and maintain a healthy technique for their instrument to be able to achieve any of their creative or professional goals. In addition to learning voice technique, we will strive towards a well-rounded music education that includes music theory, ear-training, and music literacy.

About Terry
I am a professional soprano, flutist, and composer; I graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. While in school, I won the 2014 Concerto Competition and was awarded an ATP Grant in 2015 for my original compositions for mezzo-soprano and piano. Since graduating, I have been active in the south shore and greater Boston area performing all kinds of Classical and Musical Theater works.

Voice students can expect to learn the essentials of healthy voice technique including proper posture, breathing, onset, etc, in a fun and supportive teaching environment. It is important to me that students are given the tools to be independent singers and artists ; so they can understand any vocal problems they are experiencing with the ability to solve it.

I love all genres of music and I prefer when students sing what
they are most comfortable performing; healthy technique can be learned within any genre.

I've been teaching professionally for about 7 years now. I teach all levels of voice (beginners are definitely welcome!!) and also work with beginner piano and guitar students at a studio near me. I really enjoy classical music, but my roots began singing and writing music. I'm a fan of teaching what people genuinely want to learn, as I have had many teachers give me repertoire or songs that killed my creativity and motivation. I prefer to look at myself as a "coach" rather than a teacher, because I am here to guide you through new techniques and to enrich the artist you already are.

My first instrument was the guitar when I was 7 years old.. I began singing and songwriting, and teaching myself piano until I was about 16 years old. My dad said to me, "You're voice is ok, but you need lessons.." (Thanks, Dad!) He reached out to a few local instructors and he accidentally hired a classical voice coach (oops). 3 years later I began college, where I studied Vocal Performance with her ...

About Alison
"Alison is a recent graduate from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance. Originally from West Michigan, she was an active member of Opera Grand Rapids and a finalist in the Opera Grand Rapids Vocal Collegiate Competition at age 19. Collaborations include solo performances with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Failure: Lab, and concerts around the community.
During her undergraduate training, she has studied and performed with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria and OperaWorks 2016 Emerging Artist Program in Los Angeles, California. She has performed in Masterclasses with Gabriele Lechner, Ann Baltz, and internationally acclaimed accompanist, John Wustman.
She is looking forward to future performances around the Boston area and working with her own students to share the gift o
f music."

That ^ is my fancy bio.. truth be told, I love singing covers of classical rock songs, while I play the guitar or piano. I love how studying voice classically has enriched my life, but my heart lies in being knowledgable enough to teach myself songs I enjoy, and playing with my friends. I want to help my students discover their path in music, regardless of what it turns out to be. Music is the Universal language and I want it to be shared with all!

Alison, who is a kind and passionate teacher, has worked with me for the past 2 years. She and I have worked on piano and singing, and I have become more enthusiastic about what I'm doing just from her drive to make me better. Her warm up exercises are exactly what a student needs to warm up, and once you start the lesson, you never want to end. She can accompany you on the piano while you work on the vocals, but she will also help you through the vocal aspect of it. She has been such an excellent teacher and one of the best I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend!!

I began teaching singing in 2010. Since those first days, I have taught students of all levels and styles both in academic settings and in my private studio. I have additionally served on the faculty of the University of Georgia Community Music School and the Stafford Opera Troupe in Stafford, VA. Teaching and coaching students are some of my greatest joys, and I cannot wait to help you find your authentic voice!

Voice lessons will focus on building strong musicianship, healthy vocal technique, and acting skills to bring your performances to life. Voice lessons are available to students age 12 and over. Prior to age 12, I teach Intro to Music, a set of lessons for young students designed to build musicianship skills like rhythm, sight singing, and aural skills in a fun and energetic environment. I teach voice and Intro to Music out of my home in Philadelphia, PA or I can travel to your home. Voice ...

About Rebecca
My goal is to help you find your authentic voice, refine your performances, and become the best singing performer that you can possibly be! With extensive experience across multiple genres, I believe I am uniquely situated to help you achieve your goals -- whether it be nailing your next audition or simply feeling more comfortable during the hymns at church.

My home growing up was full of music. My father first saw my mother when she was leading songs at a Shabbat service in Berkeley, CA. He always says he fell in love with her voice before anything else. The sounds of singing and guitar playing permeated my childhood. I went on to study music at Stanford University and receive my Master's degree in opera from the University of Georgia. During my education, I performed extensively in opera, musical theater, and choral ensembles including
Portland Opera, Lyric Theater of San Jose, the Astoria Music Festival, the Stanford Savoyards, and Portland Concert Opera.

Since graduating, I have collaborated with internationally renowned pedagogues and singers including Nova Thomas, Frederick Burchinal, and Kathryn Wright. I have also sung under the batons of Bradley Moore, Lance Inouye, and George Manahan. These experiences have taught me the importance of contextualizing creative expression within professionalism, a characteristic I always seek to impart to my students.

As a pedagogue, I always want my students to find ease, joy, and authenticity of character with every piece of music they sing. We achieve this goal through both hard work and creative exploration. I spend equal attention focusing on technique and storytelling, as one is meaningless without the other. I can't wait to help you find your authentic voice!

Ms. Fontenot was an established piano and vocal instructor in the Palm Beach County area whose students have gone on to attend both Bak and Dreyfoos school of the arts. Ms. Fontenot is currently in her second year of teaching music appreciation and choir at Imagine Charter School at Firestone, Colorado.

As a music teacher, I aim to motivate my students and encourage the exploration of their musical potential. I believe all students can achieve an appreciation and understanding for music on a personal level regardless of their ability or background. I strive to establish a level of trust and understanding with my students to promote an enriching classroom environment built on communication and respect by encouraging each student to engage in an intellectual exchange with myself and each other on the topic at hand. About Angela
I am a professional opera singer, performing with Opera Fort Collins for a second season. I have two degrees in music and am perusing my third. My bachelors is in Composition for Commercial Music. My Master's degree is in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. I am currently finishing my Opera Performance Certificate at UNC, where I have had the pleasure of performing "The Queen of the Night" in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and will be performing the role of "Miss Wordsworth" in Britten's Albert Herring this April.

I studied piano for 7 years in my youth with a primary focus on the suzuki method. I have been teaching piano and voice for the past 7 years privately and at many different academies and institutions such as Boca Academy of music and School of Rock. At school of rock I had the pleasure of teaching a variety of different styles and genr
es, from rock to musical theater, for all ages.

The wonderful thing about teaching classical voice technique is that it correlates to all styles of singing. Having a good foundation allows for you to sing in any style while being able to keep the health of your voice intact for a long lasting career. Learning how to read music also allows for you to have more opportunities open to you in the future and allows you to learn and understand music more quickly. In my lessons, I teach healthy vocal technique, sight reading, and performance practice to all my vocal students.

Just as i stated with vocal technique, a good foundation is the gate way to all possibilities in music. For my piano students, I teach sight reading, theory, fingering techniques, and an over all good classical foundation for piano. A well rounded foundation transitions to all genres and styles.

In my lessons, I want my students to receive exactly what they are looking for. I want to offer as much as i possibly can, but also focus and fine tune the skills my students desire to possess. I strive to make all my lessons comfortable, fun, and exciting! After all, music is the expression of self and should be enjoyed!

Do you love to sing more contemporary music? Or are you more interested in classical voice? With training in both of these genres I can help you start to establish a base of technique for any genre, or expand on a base of technique. So that you can sing with more ease and able to put your own spin and unique touch on your favorite songs! I believe that singing should be a fun and expressive experience, and to free up your voice to get you sounding amazing!

About Sarah
I'm an upcoming freshman in a college of music with my principal instrument in voice but I also play piano, guitar, ukulele, and saxophone! I have been studying voice for 10 years and piano for 6, I have a base in classical training for voice but have expanded more recently towards contemporary styles of singing.

I currently perform in 3 bands locally and have a passion for live music. I believe that music can be one of the most amazing forms of expression that a person can have and love to have been a part of someone else's musical journey! I love to teach music theory as a way to open up the possibilities of self expression through playing and/or singing!

Students of voice can expect to go through a warm up routine at the beginning of a lesson before going into full musical pieces, these can include any genre and can be songs that yo
u choose and bring in or songs that I can provide from my library.

Students of piano can expect a more technique based approach going more by some piano technique books which will then expand into figuring out and playing songs that you hear on the radio!

I firmly believe that music is a wonderful gift and I hope that I get to be a part of your unique musical journey and help you become the best musician you can possibly be!
