I emphasize a physically relaxed and technically accurate approach to cello playing so that students are free to create music without limitations or physical discomfort.
Though playing an instrument takes hard work, it should be a fun and enjoyable experience too! We will work together to ensure that you are learning pieces that interest you and inspire you to reach the next level. By the end of each lesson you will know what to work on for the week and exactly how to practice in order to achieve the most effective results.
Students will learn the fundamentals of music theory and history while focusing on improving their technical facility on the cello. Students also work towards building their comfort with the instrument by practicing increasingly complex exercises and repertoire.
Lessons will be highly interactive and geared towards your personal goals as an aspiring cellist.

The string family has a unique history, and a very unique look. Modern instruments have elaborate carvings adorning on the top, inlaid purfling supporting the cello’s rich sound, and beautifully stained wooden bodies. There are also internal posts and sound bars which allow the body to function as an acoustic amplifier across the cello’s wide range. If you want to know the cello parts names and how the instrument works, read on before your next cello lesson to get ready! Head and Neck Like …

Handedness is the sense that one hand is more dexterous or coordinated compared to the other. Researchers usually determine an individual’s handedness by observing which hand is used to write or eat. Although the causes of handedness are not fully understood, about 10% of the population is left handed or ambidextrous according to Dr. M.K. Holder, a researcher and specialist on handedness. Many left handed students wonder if they will need a specialized instrument in order to learn to play …

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
