Keith is a fantastic personality. My 7 year old son has been studying under him since Santa brought a junior kit to the home. He is patient and strikes just the right tone during the lessons between serious and fun. My son responds well to him and I also enjoy observing the lessons.
Keith's long music background comes through immediately. Doing what he loves for his life is quite an accomplishment that I envy. I don't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking to learn the Drums.
Thanks
Mike

I have been learning guitar with John for past 3 months and it is a great experience. John is very knowledgeable and patient to guide me with the much more efficient path to learn play with songs. I was trying to learn from books and YouTube videos for past 1 year, but much more improvements were made after two lessons with John! I also love his teaching styles very much: trying to explain WHY things work the way it is (e.g., music theory) instead of give a lot of "recipe level" exercises you can get from a book. I would strongly recommend him as a guitar teacher to any level!

I'm about to have my forth lesson with John and I must say he is an amazing musician and an amazing guitar teacher. In the last four weeks, John and I have been working on blues guitar licks. I've been playing at the same level for years. John has changed that for me immediately after our first lesson. He has made a huge difference in my playing and my approach to the guitar.

After I finish writing this review, I will be signing up for additional lessons.

Thanks John

Wonderful instructor

I chose John because of his extensive experience as a professional musician and recommend him highly if you are looking for a great instructor. If his patience with this 44 year old starting musician is any indication, I'm certain he's good with anyone at any age!

Megan A.

Fairfax, VA

About Megan

I grew up on Long Island New York and am currently finishing up my music education degree at George Mason University. I have been playing flute for 13 years now and it's time I share my experience and love for music with others!

To me, music is an outlet and it's important that my students fall in love with music while also learning about it. Music has always been a driving force in my life and one of the greatest things I've been involved in. I hope to give my students the same opportunities I have had and make music an important part of their lives as well.

A typical lesson with me w
ill be structured like this:
Emphasis on basics (scales, studies, tuning, etc)
Sight Reading and Ear Training
Learning techniques through pieces

I had a lot of bad habits that developed over years so it will always be my goal to make sure this isn't the case with my students. Playing music should be fun, never too hard or painful. I will put a big emphasis on posture and building proper habits from the beginning.

My recommended length of time for a lesson is one hour. 30 minutes is not enough time once a week to really develop habits properly and really get into the heart of the music we will be working on.

I am really looking forward to acquiring more students!

Ok. I have actually been one Alex's instructors! Not trumpet but Choir. Yes the guy can sing too. More importantly, he is an awesome guy, genuine person, and terrific musician. I just wish he could have stayed in NC so I could have him in my orchestra. I was his orchestra conductor and choral director for many years. Some DC area students are going to be very fortunate to have him as an instructor.

You can tell I like the guy! If he was just a little bit older I'd be begging him to marry my daughter. How's that for a reference?

Brianna S.

Fairfax, VA

About Brianna

I am currently pursuing a BM in Trumpet Performance at George Mason University, studying under Professor Phil Snedecor. I have been playing trumpet for 14 years, and have orchestral, wind band, chamber, marching band, and pit orchestra experience. I have been teaching privately since 2012.

It is extremely important to me that my students reach their full potential, being the best musician they can be while still retaining their passion for music. I remember the first time I ever picked up a trumpet; it was one of the most unforgettable experiences.

I emphasize teaching and solidifying f
undamentals while creating a fun and musical environment for my students. I also believe that ear training is imperative in developing musicianship.

As a performer, I have played with the American Festival Pops Orchestra and the United States Air Force Band.

I am available to teach both 30 minute and 1 hour long lessons.

Learning trombone from Brianna was a great experience for my son, who is going into 6th grade this year. We wanted him to have a few lessons before starting band in middle school, and Brianna was the perfect person for the job. She taught him the basic skills he would need to succeed in the middle school band, and she really helped him become interested in music.
