Peter R.

Greensboro, NC

About Peter

I recently relocated to Greensboro.

For the last two decades, I have had the privilege of teaching piano at two of the largest and most successful community music schools in the Southeast: the Columbia Arts Academy, based in Columbia, SC, and the Jan Williams School of Music and Theatre, based in Brentwood, TN, just outside of Nashville.

During my years as a piano teacher in community music schools, I have successfully instructed and interacted with a student population representing a vast range of ages, aptitudes, attitudes, races, ethnicities and countries of origin. My retention numbe
rs have been excellent, and I have prepared hundreds of students for recitals. I have taught and performed extensively across the wide spectrum of music, including classical, jazz and popular music, with a particular expertise in jazz, blues and rock music.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have

I am an adult with no prior knowledge of music or experience with any musical instrument; however, Pete's classes have really made me believe in myself. He has a great deal of passion and knowledge and is ever so patient that one never feels inhibited during the learning process. I am thoroughly enjoying my classes, and the thought of an evening class is what keeps me going during my packed schedule at work

Great first lesson. Peter was very patient, taking time to explain everything and did not rush me. I felt very at ease and he met me at my level but was willing to help me reach a little if that was what I wanted. He was very clear on what I needed to work on for the next week. He went over everything to make sure I understood and knew that he was available for any questions.

Lisa O.

Greensboro, NC

About Lisa

I took 17 consecutive years of lessons and I hold a B.S. degree in music education with a proficiency in piano and a secondary in voice.

Since I was not a performance major my studies were seriously geared towards learning how to teach music well to all ages and also teaching them to enjoy learning by not just pushing students to perform!

My passion to teach is greater than my passion to perform. A good performer doesn't always make for the best teacher.

I home schooled my own two kids for 14 years who then went on to GTCC early middle college and now are both honor students at UNC
campuses. So I know how to deal with very smart and wiggly kids both male and female!

I'm gladly accepting students for the summer as well as for the fall semester and will be happy to meet with anyone for an interview beforehand to answer scheduling and fee questions.

Let's learn together! :)
