Learning music should be both fun and challenging. I have been teaching at the private and college level for over 15 yrs now. If you are a true beginner, or have been playing for many years, but want to go to the next level, then I'm the guy for you.
*** Lesson Details *** From the very 1st lesson, you will be playing songs, as well as working on technique, and learning theory (how to read music, chords, scales, etc.).
I'm a laid-back teacher, but I do set goals for each student, and expect you to practice, to attain these goals.
*** Studio Equipment *** teaching studio w/ compute
rs, pro tools, recording, finale, seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** Student should have a guitar, tuner, music stand, and method book. I provide repertoire, staff paper.
*** Specialties *** I've come up with a method for beginners that I had implemented when teaching college, that fuses classical technique with pieces from various genres that the student may be interested in learning.
For students interested strictly in Classical Guitar, I mostly use the Noad and Parkening Method books.
Hi there! My name is Chris and I've been playing music my entire life and I believe that with the right attitude and environment anyone can achieve musical greatness!
I was born into a musical family and have studied classical piano since I was 4 years old! I am very well versed in music theory and proper technique, with an emphasis on avoiding player's injuries, as well as a great knowledge of classical Pieces for any skill level.
As a young teenager I grew rebellious and learned how to play the electric guitar and have since sought teachers outside my family to learn mod
ern styles and 5 other instruments!! I have also worked toward a music degree and have made music the center of my life.
Classical music is not everyone's passion but a good practice routine, attitude and environment is always a good thing to have as these things are important regardless of your favorite music.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are held with a fun and relaxed attitude. Learning music should always be enjoyable and a good attitude and love for music is cultured and encouraged.
Lessons are structured just like a practice session should be. We will begin with a warm-up exercise designed to acquaint you with the proper technique to meet your personal musical goals. the next activities are highly personalized, but is usually something like reading music or a music theory game. These activities are things that are good for you but may not be your favorite part of learning music. They will, however, go a long way toward your better understanding of how your favorite music is structured.
Examples could be learning about 12 bar blues, common strum patterns (for guitar), scales, sight-reading, or music analysis.
We will spend the rest of class learning and practicing an activity of your choice. This is usually a song but can be anything you wish to improve upon. this is usually a long-term goal of yours. *I've always wanted to learn......*
By structuring our lessons the same as how you will practice, and by keeping good notes, it will be easy for you to take on practice at home and achieve all of your musical goals!
*** Travel Equipment *** Students should have their own guitar/piano/keyboard etc. Guitar/violin students should also have a music stand and tuner to keep at home. I will bring picks, spare tuner, music, and handouts.
*** Specialties *** I primarily specialize in classical piano in styles such as Muzio Clementi and Frederic Chopin. I also play Bach and various Spanish classical guitar pieces. I have also extensively studied electric guitar in Blues such ZZ Top, Metal such as Metallica, and rock such as Led Zeppelin. I have also studied Irish and Celtic folk music for instruments such as Mandolin and Violin.

Flaminco Guitar is often thought of as advanced and complicated.
I can break down the style so that you can not only understand it, but also play the style so that you sound like a pro.

I've taken several lessons with Jason and highly recommend him! He is very patient, easy going, and goes at the student's pace. He's a great guitar player and he will work with you to achieve your goal. I leave each lesson learning a few new songs.

Jason is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and patient. I don't have any musical background whatsoever, but he quickly got me started learning to play banjo and answered all my questions. I highly recommend this teacher.

We were new to the whole online, private lesson world and only tried as a test for our 10 yr-old son. He has now been working with Jason for several months now and shows no signs of stopping. Our son is progressing, has gained confidence and still seems to have fun. Jason is on time and if you cannot make a lesson he is flexible in rescheduling if given some notice. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much Jason packs into his lessons without overwhelming the student. We highly recommend him!
I began playing the cello over twenty years ago in grade school. I soon expanded into other instruments, picking up first the guitar, then the string bass. I continued to play stringed instruments in multiple ensembles through college, but chose piano as my concentration. It was in college that I began professionally teaching and performing. Such varied musical experience has made me a very well rounded musician and allowed me to use diferent approaches and techniques in my teaching.
*** Lesson Details *** I always base my teaching style and curriculum on the individual student. I love teachi
ng students who are enthusiastic about learning the complex language of music and wish to be pushed to meet their goals. I also love teaching students who want a more laid back experience, perhaps only wishing to learn a few chords to enjoy playing and singing their favorite songs. I find most students to be somewhere in between.
*** Travel Equipment *** I will provide method books once I have met with the student and assessed the best direction to take
*** Specialties *** love teaching jazz, when they get there.
Study flamenco rhythm, rapid strumming (rasgueado), rapid thumb technique (alzapúa), and picado. Learn forms such as bulerías, alegrías and tangos.
Edward first became fascinated with the guitar at the age of fifteen. Before long he was putting bands together and looking for gigs. As time went on, his influences grew to include everything from classical to hip-hop to pop, but the one genre that that made the strongest impact was flamenco. His passion led him to Spain where, after subsequent trips, he studied with some of the greatest guitarists in the business including David Serva, Emilio Maya, Paco Cortes and Rafael Santiago “Habichuela”. Between trips Edward studied classical guitar at Grossmont College and San Diego State Universit
y, where he received his bachelor’s degree in music performance in 2008. Today Edward regularly performs as a soloist and with various ensembles ranging from pop groups to flamenco troupes. His comprehensive studies in music history and theory coupled with one-on-one, ‘old world’ style lessons from flamenco masters gives him a great foundation for teaching.

Extraordinary talent, patient, detail-oriented, and great understanding of both flamenco and classic guitar theory and execution. I have known Edward for seven years now, and his guitar technique is exceptional.
I also called Edward when I was choreographing a play at MiraCosta College and needed a guitarist to create the music for the play and perform it live. He is extremely creative, a problem-solver, and team-player. I couldn't ask for a better person to do the job.

I never picked up a guitar until after age 50, and then for some unknown reason decided I wanted to learn flamenco guitar.
I've been taking lessons with Ed for about 8 months.
Ed is teaching the flamenco basics and techniques, and also makes sure he adds in some easier items so that I can see progress. The lessons are comfortable - Ed has an easy going personality that makes the lessons comfortable and enjoyable.
Very pleased with Ed as my instructor

"Diego is a great teacher! I have been taking lessons from him for a while now and I have improved considerably. He is very clear with his teaching using
the information learned through his information psychology. He explains why we must do something a certain way and this leads to a better understanding of flamenco and the guitar. He teaches not just guitar, but also how to practice. Diego is incredibly friendly and makes learning something so difficult manageable and fun!"

"Actually learning guitar!
"I don't know how I got so lucky to find one of the few teachers in the area that not only enjoys playing but also teaches flam
enco guitar. Mark is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, multi-talented and endlessly patient, a crucial quality for a thick-headed adult student like me. He takes his work seriously and conducts himself very professionally, but still manages to make every lesson a lot of fun. Amazingly, I am learning to play the guitar, which I never thought I could. Highly recommended.""

"Jim is a wonderful teacher!! Although I have been playing and teaching guitar for years, the work I have done with Jim has really filled in the gaps in m
y knowledge. He is patient and willing to work with my specific needs. Each lesson has a perfect balance of discipline and fun. He is very knowledgeable in all areas of music and great at imparting that knowledge in a way that makes sense. Lots of A HA moments:) I finally feel that I understand the fretboard and all of the nuances of theory. Thank you, Jim!!"

"I've been studying Flamenco Guitar with Ed for almost 2 years. He is a talented teacher and performer. My wife dances flamenco in a group that Ed plays gu
itar for, and I was always impressed with Ed's music, so when I finally took the plunge and chose to start guitar lessons, I knew who to go to. Learning flamenco is one of the hardest things I've ever tried to undertake, but it is super fun and rewarding when these difficult skills start to stick. Ed is patient and knows how to push me just a little bit past my comfort zone so I actually make progress."
