Theodore J.

Norman, OK

About Theodore

My name is Theodore and I am a classical guitarist. I began studying music as a pop/rock guitarist in my teen years and eventually pursued the music field in college. Transferring from Sinclair Community College to Wright State University as an undergraduate I majored in music history and literature. *** Lesson Details *** The frontier of learning never ends. I want my students to enjoy the process of setting and achieving (musical) goals and if that process proliferates into other aspects of the student's life they will be the wiser. Most of the world's best musicians will agree that their individual skill was not acquired easily but rather with discipline and patience. Such perseverance makes that skill more substantial. I want my students to take their time and enjoy the journey

Couldn't be happier!!!

In one word, Ted is "amazing"!

Now for the details: I am a 44 year old man and am learning guitar to accompany myself and to honor my father who was a great guitar player. From day one Ted has worked on technique (which is extremely important to me). His professionalism exceeds expectations and he tries to find out what is important to the student so he can shape the lessons around those goals. He teaches with constant positive reinforcement and this helps my learning process. No matter how bad I think I am doing, he finds the good in it and then uses that information to work your lesson. He really has made my dreams of becoming a guitar player start to come true and I intend to continue working with him for as long as I can!! As Ted always says, "You are always learning how to play the guitar, no matter how long or how experienced you are!!" I cannot recommend him enough.

Theodore teaches my 11 year old son guitar. Since day 1 he seemed to instinctively know how to bring out the best in him. He shows incredible patience while also continuing to find ways to challenge him. This keeps him interested. My son looks forward to practicing all that Theodore writes down from his lessons, and he lights up when he hears, from Theodore, that he has done well. My son has learned more in 4 weeks with Theodore than he did in 2 months with his previous teachers.
