Hi. My name is Nick, and I'm a professional saxophonist. I graduated from the Nizhniy Novgorod conservatory (Russian Federation) in 2013, with a mark of excellence and an honors degree diploma. Currently live in New York City.

I teach any of you willing to learn to play the sax – at any skill level, age or trade. For our music classes, we can make use of any means at our disposal. Let us have a lesson at my professional studio, in your home or on Skype. I will not only teach you how to extract hypnotizing musical sounds but also share the basics of musical notation, the gift of improvisation and playing to accompaniment.

My teaching experience in itself equals to some 10 years.
Through this time period, I have been working with Beginner to Advanced-level students of any ages. We have been practicing in my professional studio, at my trainees’ premises or via Skype.
To any student of mine I offer a tried-and-true combination of techniques that have eventually made up my state-of-the-art teaching methodic.
It contains, but is not limited to, the following:
- establish the basis of musical theory including learning musical notation and reading scores;
- gaining extensive practice through performing popular classic to hit tunes;
- learning how to improvise in a variety of genres.
- developing beginner musicians’ skill;
- giving rise to intermediate-level saxophonists’;
- polishing advanced sax players’ mastery.
And, no doubt, helping prepare for an upcoming concert or competition is an option, too, - and quite an honorable task for me.
So let us arrange a meeting and discuss my tailor-made offer – just for you!

I’m quite happy with my teacher. At first, I was a bit anxious about that possible ‘old school’ approach to teaching. You know, endlessly playing scales, and nothing more. Thank god, Nick is different and ready to experiment to help me polish my skills. Appreciate that, buddy.

I can say finding a trustworthy saxophone teacher had been an issue for me till one of my colleagues recommended Nick York. Well, now I’ve been practicing for just 2 months twice a week – and can already boast of some results! You’re a very good teacher, stay the same!

So far so good! Nick is patient, and great at explaining the fundamentals to a beginner like myself.

It’s not the first time I study playing sax. But definitely my most pleasant attempt! Now I’m playing much more freely. What’s more, Nick keeps sharing interesting insights on the seamy side of the music industry! See you again soon!

I have finally reached my goal – now I’ve got enough conventional training to start playing complicated jazz tunes. Your teaching methods are just as they should be. Thank you, Nick, for making it loud and simple for me.

I’ve been slowly moving toward playing sax for over a year. So, when I was finally ready, I got puzzled where to find an experienced teacher so as not to pay through my nose. After about a week on the Internet, I found Nick York. After watching some of his videos online, I called him and we started training. Now I can say he stands out of other performers in terms of quality-to-price ratio. Thanks, Nick

I wanted to learn how to play the sax – and here it is, given to me as a present. I started to look for a teacher and was put on to him. I reckon he is a good teacher. He clearly breaks down information, has a creative approach to studies, always puts something new on offer, and takes his students’ wishes on board. Undoubtedly, Nick is a fair musician notwithstanding his teaching spirit. If any acquaintance of mine sets their sights on playing the saxophone, I will certainly recommend him to them.

Nick is a remarkable educator. His lessons are smooth sailing, him staying demanding and informative at the same time. He always tries to explain complicated things with simple words, in layman’s terms. Nick is a teacher focused on the practical effect, not on deep theoretical knowledge. His attitude to studies really motivate! That is why my advice to all who are still on the fence: cease doubting!

I had been dreaming about playing the saxophone for quite a while, but hadn’t had the nerve to take it up from scratch. Until I found info about Nick on the Net and did make my mind to try! Which I not one jot regret! He’s a great teacher who can explain everything and give a hint when something goes wrong! I feel like continuing my studies! I hope I will have mastered this wonderful instrument with Nick’s help! Thank you!

I had been choosing a teacher for long before my choice turned next to Nikita, which I’m very happy about. Not everyone can be so straightforward in explaining stuff. He will always understand and prompt you. Apart from being a teacher with a big ‘T’, Nikita is a very amiable, sociable and responsible person! If you are still in two minds concerning your choice of a teacher, don’t lose your time, make an appointment with Nikita!

The history of me meeting Nikita started after his performance on my wedding. I really liked his style of play and his personality, too. A year later I decided to take up playing the sax and, of course, addressed Nikita with that – as I had been inspired particularly with his play. I put progress and success I could feel even after half a year of studies down to Nikita’s teaching skill. He will always reasonably praise me or scold if homework undone. To top it all, he inspires me to work and go on rising further. I just wish there was more time to take more lessons. Nikita, I will be coming more often when I finish my construction works, I promise! Thank you for your patience and perseverance in your noble work.
