The first song that made me want to learn guitar as a kid was Smoke On The Water and Nancy Wilson of Heart inspired me to be a Rock guitarist. I've studied guitar and music from grade school all through college and spent countless hours listening to my favorite songs over and over to figure them out (yeah, that was before youtube was a thing :).
I've played guitar in school jazz bands and classical guitar ensembles both recreationally and professionally. I'm currently in two working bands (www.facebook.com/VCRidaho, and www.facebook.com/coldrail), have played on, co-produced and recorded three CDs (BlindHorizon - ColdRail, Christmas At Home by the Karel Sisters, The Taste of Life Itself - Sagin' Time).
My personal philosophy is that life should be fun and learning music should be GREAT FUN. In all my years of teaching one of the things I've found that makes music fun for the student is when I'm able to teach something they thought was complicated in an easy way that makes the student smile and say "that's it!?! I thought it was more complicated. I can do this!". If that sounds like the kind of lesson experience you'd like to have then get in touch and let's make music!
One last thing. I have completed a 3rd party independent background check and am most happy to provide you that information so feel free to ask.
Moscow Music Academy is the outgrowth of GTR Guitar Studio which I began in 1993 when I was finishing my masters in guitar performance. Since then I've added other instrument programs and brought other teachers on board.
While I have formal training in jazz and Classical guitar, my years of playing in various music ensembles and bands has allowed me to become intimately familiar with the nuances and techniques required for playing rock, blues, jazz, R&B, soul, metal, punk, alternative, classical, reggae, new age finger-style guitar and more.
Taught private and group guitar classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
