    About Zachary W.

As a professional composer, producer, sound designer, and trombonist based out of Atlanta, GA I love to teach. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Trombone Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio and have taught for the past 10 years. Currently, I am working as a composer of film and television. my compositions vary in genres. As a teacher, my main goal is to develop a student's personalized work-flow so they can be as efficient as possible in the art of composition. For my students interested in working in film and television, this is of utmost importance to find success in this fast-paced industry. My motto is that being a great composer isn't necessarily about having the best ideas, but rather being great at DEVELOPING those ideas. After-all, this is truly what composing is all about. In my lessons, dependent on each student's individual needs and interests, we will work on work-flow, music theory, and general compositional techniques. My DAW (digital audio workstation) is Ableton and for those interested in sound design I am happy to work this into our lessons as well. As a professional trombonist I've performed with many orchestras and big bands around the U.S. and have my own private trombone studio. I believe that tone-development is the most crucial element in being a great trombonist. My students range from middle schoolers just starting out in their school band program all the way up to college students, including retirees who may have played trombone when they were younger and simply want to rekindle their passion for the instrument. Trombone lessons will resume after March 2021. Regardless of your age or experience, with a little hard work and dedication I will help you to reach your respective goals. Looking forward to meeting you very soon! Zach
