    Dr. Yuhui Li is an accomplished pianist who has captivated audiences both in America and China, both as a soloist and chamber musician. Her talents have been showcased at prestigious events such as the New Paltz International Piano Festival, Cincinnati International Music Festival, and Colorado International Music Festival. Notably, Yuhui clinched the title of ASU Concerto Competition Winner in 2018, a testament to her exceptional musical prowess. Yuhui’s musical journey is adorned with numerous accolades, including noteworthy placements in renowned piano competitions. She secured Second Place in the King Peak International Competition (2021) and received acclaim at The America Prize (2021), as well as the Colorado International Piano Competition (2013) in the USA. In her homeland of China, she achieved Second Prize in the Xi Wang National Piano Competition (2013) and First Prize in the Yangze River National Piano Competition (2012). Yuhui’s expertise has also been sought after as an adjudicator in various piano competitions and exams, including the Arizona Study Program and US Open Music Competition. Her academic journey is equally impressive. Yuhui earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in piano performance from the Renmin University of China, where she was honored with an outstanding graduation award under the guidance of Dr. Fang Zhang. She furthered her studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, obtaining a Master of Music degree while studying under the mentorship of Prof. Yoshikazu Nagai. Dr. Li culminated her academic pursuits with a doctoral degree (DMA) in Piano Performance from Arizona State University, where she was under the tutelage of Prof. Robert Hamilton.

    Dr. Yuhui L. has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in America and China. She has been invited to New Paltz International Piano Festival, Cincinnati International Music Festival, and the Colorado International Music Festival. Yuhui has been selected as the ASU Concerto Competition Winner (2018). Yuhui is also a prizewinner of many piano competitions, including American Prize (USA,2021), Colorado International piano competition (USA, 2013), Second Prize in Xi Wang National Piano Competition (China, 2013), First Prize in Yangze River National Piano Competition (Beijing, China, 2012). She received her BA from the Renmin University of China with an outstanding graduation award, majoring in piano performance, where she studied with Dr. Fang Zhang. She received her MM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Prof. Yoshikazu Nagai. Dr. L. obtained her doctoral degree (DMA) at Arizona State University (ASU), majoring in Piano Performance with Prof. Robert Hamilton. Dr. L. joined the ASU faculty of Community Music School in 2017. Before joining ASU, Yuhui taught as a private piano instructor at Music City Academy, Jefferson Elementary School, and John Yehall Chin School in San Francisco. She has also been invited as an adjudicator in piano competitions and programs, such as the Arizona Study Program. Students advised by Dr. L. have won multiple international and domestic awards in piano competitions. She works with students of all ages to provide a comprehensive and exciting musical education.

    To begin the journey of piano playing is not easy for an adult, Yuhui has been a patient instructor and great friend along the way. I really enjoyed the past months of lessons and am looking forward to continuing the journey with her in the future.
