Have you always wanted to create your own songs? Do you want to learn more about music theory? If so, let's work together. 

You will start creating on day one and will walk away with a collection of your own songs that you are proud to share. We can cover music theory concepts as we go so that you can immediately use the ideas you are learning in your own music. We can explore multiple genres and have discussions around listening critically. If you’d like, I can also work with you to prepare a polished performance of a song you’ve written during our time together. 

No musical experience or instrument is required to get started in creating music. You are welcome to use any instrument(s) that you already play during our time together.

I am a pianist with over 26 years of experience. I come from the classical world with experience in arranging and composition. I've worked with learners of all ages and aim to teach in a way that inspires creativity and exploration. As an artist, I’ve performed in competitions and festivals (some international), worked with faculty from various universities, including University of Southern California, and UC Davis, and am a double Bruin (go UCLA!).

Yue's course really helped me better understand music. She presented musical concepts in a simple, easily digestible way and provided visuals and examples that made abstract concepts much more tangible and concrete - perfect for a visual learner. Learning with her was fun and engaging. I can confidently say that I feel more knowledgeable approaching music creation tools than before!

I’ve been playing guitar for years and still learned interesting new ideas from Yue’s course. Even with music elements I had a vague understanding of, she found ways to help visualize them very effectively. Yue did a good job of adjusting the content based on my knowledge level. Her course is thoughtfully designed and structured to cover all the topics that are the most useful to know for anyone learning music. This was great for someone like me who has some background and wants to deepen their understanding.
