I grew up half of my life in Caracas-Venezuela (speaking Spanish) and the other half in the USA (learning English). In the middle, I lived in the Middle East, teaching English as a second language for 8 years. I learned English in the USA in the university and I am learning Arabic now.
I believe that I can understand students who are learning other languages, because I have learned other languages and know the challenges of pronunciation and memorization especially when you are an adult.
However, learning to speak Spanish will bring you many rewards in life such as new job opportunities. As you strive to learn Spanish, your best way to learn will be to find a Spanish speaking friend that will encourage you to practice. Speaking Spanish will open the door for you to communicate with more than 500 million people--that is the greatest reward.

Yrama has not only helped me improve my Spanish, she has improved my life with her authenticity and willingness to gently correct me. Beyond her formal training as an educator, her vast experiences as a mother who homeschooled her children and a volunteer working with youth has helped her know how a variety of students learn. She has also studied English and Arabic, so she understands the challenges present in learning a foreign language. Yrama has an extensive cultural knowledge, which makes her more in touch with and able to analyze her own latino culture, which is intrinsic to language learning. She is upbeat, laughs easily, and kind which makes learning fun and comfortable. I hope you enjoy learning with Yrama.

Yrama started teaching me Spanish when all I could say were basic greetings . She helped me over a two year period to go from a beginner to fluent. We focused on the principle "learn a little, & use it a lot," so I would learn a simple phrase and use it with 10 people at work (I worked at a restaurant with a lot of Latinos). With this "game plan" I was able to have success.
