As a tutor, I realize that all students learn things in different ways. I try my best to help the student understand the material, not just to memorize it. If the student doesn’t understand it, I try to approach the problem a different way. Having a stable foundation of understanding is especially important when it comes to subjects like math and science, in which the material is cumulative.

Hi! My name is Yazmin and I am the oldest of five. I was born and raised in San Jose, California and now I attend university only 15 minutes away from home, lucky me! I enjoy working out and I am always up for anything outdoors— hiking, picnics, bicycling you name it! I am a junior bioengineering major at Santa Clara University. My freshman year, I was one of thirty first year students to be awarded for outstanding academic achievement. Once I graduate, I hope to attend medical school and one day become a physician.
Work one-on-one with elementary, middle and high school students in mathematics and chemistry. Identify the needs of learners and teach in a manner that fits their learning style.
Served as a mentor to underprivileged, elementary school students from San Jose, California. Assisted in teaching a class of rising seventh graders in pre-algebra to prepare them for the upcoming school year.
Helped run a program called MATHeasy at my local library. Offered free tutoring to local students of all ages. I was responsible for managing school/tutoring materials, volunteers, and students in need of tutoring.
Yazmin was terrific! My daughter felt very comfortable working with her. Yazmin was confident with the chemistry content and very good at explaining and
re-teaching the material. I highly recommend Yazmin and are looking forward to working with her again.
