About XinOu W.

I am currently the concertmaster of Camerata New York. I am happy to help with whoever has a heart for the Violin. and a member Lucerne Festival Academy Alumni Orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle and Riccardo Chailly. I have led performances in all the major halls in New York, Berlin, Paris, and Hamburg, under legendary conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir George Benjamin, David Zinman, and Ricardo Chailly. I have performed in a private recital for Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and H.R.H. Princess Madeleine, as well as performing as a guest artist at America-Israel Cultural Foundation's 75th Anniversary Gala Celebration at Lincoln Center in New York, hosted by Itzhak Perlman. As a recitalist and chamber musician, I have performed with some of the foremost musicians of our day, such as James Ehnes, David Aaron Carpenter, and Victor Rosenbaum at Carnegie Hall. Besides performing, and teaching (I maintain a busy studio coaching young violinists studying in New York), I have embarked a career as a conductor as well-making my London debut with the London Serenata.

I enjoy teaching the most enthusiastic adult amateurs. Some of my college graduate students have gained admission to the most prestigious institutions and festivals, as well as winning auditions and competitions. I have taught in the past at Aspen Music Festival, Rutgers University, and Meadowmount School of Music-where I assisted the legendary Sally Thomas. My main teachers are Stephen Majeske, Elmar Oliveira, Carol Cole, Sylvia Rosenberg in Aspen, as well as Boris Kuschnir and Hubert Kroisamer in Vienna.

I have always had a passion, and love for teaching, since my first student about 14 years ago. I still remember vividly that how all the passion accumulated during my own practicing, finally found a way of letting out. Teaching has ever been, a great satisfaction of expressing, and fulfilling myself. Later on, I have had the great honor of teaching at Meadowmount School of Music, as the teaching assistant of the legendary Sally Thomas-whose guidance I owe so much throughout my very own life in music. I have taught, and given masterclasses in some of the nation's leading musical institutions, among others: the Aspen Music Festival and School's PALS program, Meadowmount School of Music, Queens College Summer Music Festival, Center for Musical Excellence, and Rutgers University. I have served as chairman of the Jury/Jury member for New York International Competition for Young Artists, Aaron Copland School of Music of the Queen College Summer Festival Competition, and the Adelphi Orchestra Annual Young Artists Concerto Competition. While currently playing concertmaster for the Camerata New York, Long Island Opera, Adelphi Orhcestra, Garden State Philharmonic, Ars Musica Society, and Central Park Symphony Orchestra, I have always devoted a considerable amount of time solely in my teaching studio. Many of the undergraduate and graduate students from Mannes College, and Manhattan School of Music seek for my help on technical and interpretive matters. I have always found and particular joy teaching adults, who only had the necessary time and energy to music later on in life, and we always maintain a wonderful relationship. The past experience and my constant thinking, had sorted me out a systematic way of teaching violinists of all levels and physical make ups. I do not believe in a particular teaching style, nor method. I believe that it is important that you study the individual, knowing their capacity, character, and respond and achieve the maximum through understanding and repetition. When does correctly, its benefit is enormous. If I ever had a motto, I don't believe there is any shortcut, nor tricks in violin playing, just as in all other aspects in life, as life itself.

In the recent years, I studied in Vienna with Boris Kuschnir and Hubert Kroisamer, whose concept of Violin playing and music making opened new grounds for me. I have been fortunate to play with some of the greatest musical giants of the 20 and the 21 century: Sir Simon Rattle; Sir George Benjamin; Riccardo Chailly, and Matthias Pintscher in Luzern, Paris, new York, Vienna, Berlin, and Hamburg. All these experience continue to grow in me and broaden my musical horizon-I look forward to share all of it with you!
