    My lessons will be based on learning Korean through Kpop, K-dramas and K-variety shows. We will explore and select each category together and learn the language, history, culture, and more! I believe in visual learning so we will do some image training to help you better understand the language!

    I hold a master's degree in Healthcare Administration at the University of Southern California, currently working as a healthcare administration/consultant, specializing in the ambulatory care system. Truth: I grew up in Korea and came back to the states during my teenage years. Since then, I volunteered at a Korean school throughout high school. I kept up with my Korean by reading books - I read the Harry Potter series both in English and Korean - and watching tons of K-shows. Reality: To strengthen my credibility, I conducted a Food Safety Certification course via English & Korean and did few interpretation gigs for Delta Airline, HR department. I was invited to speak on ARK, a Korean radio platform, about an alcohol and drug prevention program and was aired on KTN Atlanta to discuss the importance of voter registration. I love playing sports - basketball, tennis, biking, longboarding, etc. Otherwise, I will be at home watching all types of K-drama/shows on YT and Netflix! Fun facts: I did a 60-mile canoe trip! I’ve visited 30 states via road trips!

    I find my time in this class so essential and valuable. I have learned so much about how this language works. Hangul is such a deeply interesting language to me and there are times when it makes total sense and other times when I just don't get it. Two of the first things that he shared really early on are: 1) "share the thought in the least amount of words" Now I get why some things sound too short to me, this was so simple but eye opening for me. 2) sounds that each letter makes...seems simple but there are sounds that my ears did not pick up on this simple lesson in the beginning gave be a huge leap forward in how to listen to the language as there are many words that sound identical, but are spelled just a little different! I am very grateful for what I have learned and look forward to learning more!
