Violin with William S.

I am an experienced multi-instrumentalist who plays violin, voice, guitar, trombone, and euphonium. I have played in youth orchestras and jazz bands and have soloed with the longest-running orchestra in the country, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. I currently play violin and sing in my church band. I am a firm believer that students learn best when they are passionate about the material they are learning. My students can expect to learn the fundamentals of violin performance, including correct bow hold and technique. Once students learn the basics, I encourage them to reach their full potential by practicing etudes and repertoire of their choice. This customized learning process is tailored to the individual and helps students remain optimistic and excited about honing their skills in this difficult instrument. My focus is on classical technique and repertoire, though I encourage students to apply skills to other genres as well (bluegrass, jazz, etc.). If you study with me, you can expect to have fun and laugh a lot. I always incorporate humor into my lessons and ensure that discipline is coupled with lighthearted conversation. The student-teacher relationship is an important work/personal balance and I understand this balance well. I look forward to our first lesson!
