Bill Solley has performed at numerous clubs and festivals around the world. I am well versed in Be Bop,Fusion,Funk and Brazilian music but, my forte is accompanying many of the fine Jazz singers across the country including my wife Kim Prevost. I continues to teach at the AVI music in Katy,Texas. I also taught at the Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music. I grew up in New Orleans listening to all kinds of music.” I can remember my father playing Jobim and Booker T. and the MGs on the stereo and really enjoying it.” I got my first guitar when I was 14 and was playing in a band when I was 16.I soon found a teacher who got me started on classical guitar and ended up getting a BA in music from University of New Orleans.I studied jazz guitar with Hank Mackie and later moved to New York and studied with Steve Kahn and composition with Edgar Granna at the Julliard School. My credits include 1999 B.E.T on Jazz discovery winner,performances and or recordings with Arturo Sandoval, Terri Lynn Carrington, Bobby McFerrin, Bill Summers (Head Hunters),Amina Figarova,Dave Valentine,Stanley Jordan,Paul Wertico, and Allen Toussaint. I was proud to take part in the blockbuster film “RAY” in which I was guitar instructor to Fox Network "Empire" lead star and Oscar nominated actor Terrence Howard.
