Master of Music in Violin Performance

    About William M.

While obtaining his Masters degree in Violin Performance, Myers was hired and trained by Elizabeth Chang, the Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He worked as the Violin Teaching Assistant to the studio where he gave weekly lessons to non-major students who were interested in continuing their violin playing. While at UMass, he was trained in the Franco-Belgian violin playing style, which seeks to eliminate all points of tension while playing the violin so that the student may flourish naturally. A slow and persistent approach that focuses on obtaining the correct violin set-up and posture will ensure that EVERY student can learn the violin. His goal as an instructor is to help a student learn how to practice efficiently in the best way for them. Ideally they will be able to translate these skills and learned diligence into their academic classes to stay successful and keep their GPA high! Check out my website! http://geigenspieler.weebly.com/ -Teaching Style- The foundation of my teaching is in scales and etudes, always focusing on proper posture. My #1 goal is to teach the student how to practice effectively and to be able to learn how to identify and fix problems on their own.
