About William H.
Meet Mr. Will
William J.N. Henderson been a musician for a very long time now. Started training in Beaumont, Texas from Ms. Cheryl Black at the age of 8. His mother knew that growing up as a single mother would be hard and need something to bring her son closer to her. William told his mother that he wanted to take piano lesson, because he never could take his eyes off the organ player at Compton Chapel Church C.O.G.I.C. After a few lessons from Cheryl Black, she ended up telling his mother that he was pretty good. After 3 years, Cheryl made him a student teacher.
In middle school, since he was already taking piano lesson his mother enrolled him in band. The only band student without a private lesson teacher made 1st chair in top band class in the 7th and 8th grade. 1st chair in 1999 Southeast, Texas ULL Region Honor Band. He made an 1 on ever solo competition from 7th grade to 12th grade. In high school became section leader in the 10th grade. 11th grade made head drum major for Ozen High School from 2003 to 2005, which under the leadership of William the band received ULL Sweepstakes 2 years in a row on stage and field. Trumpet helped him receive a scholarship to Southern University A&M University. Playing in the marching band for 2 years he end up pledge a music fraternity in 2007 named Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. In 2007 he came back home to finish his Engineering degree at Lamar University. His senior year at Lamar he played in the marching band also was writing band arrangements for the band. In 2011 William Henderson graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. As of now he is working on his thesis to earn a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
While giving private lessons on the side for low income families he begins to help at King Middle School and Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas. 2012 Ozen High School band directors made William Henderson a staff member. His pastor and several other pastors ask him to play piano at their church, but he stop playing piano for 4 years to receive a degree in engineering. About 2 years ago, he started training on piano again with guidance from Ms. Deborah Duerer-Habash
