Greetings ASL students!!
I am excited to teach ASL to all of you.
In Fall 1979, I began my full-time teaching career at Blair High School in Pasadena Unified School District teaching Deaf/HH students in various subjects. In Spring 1980, I was an adjunct teacher teaching ASL at Pasadena City College (PCC). In Fall 1981, I began my new full-time teaching assignment at the Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) in San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). I taught Deaf/HH students various subjects and Hearing students ASL. In Spring 1982 to approximately 1996, I was an adjunct teacher teaching ASL, Deaf Culture, and Linguistics of ASL at Santa Ana College/Orange Canyon College in Rancho Santiago Community College District. In 1996 I transferred over to Mesa College from ECC and have been teaching various courses such as ASL 1, 2, 3, and 4, Fingerspelled Signs, Deaf Culture and Implications of Deafness. From Fall 1996 to Spring 2018, I have taught ASL 1, 2, 3, and 4, Deaf Culture and Structure of ASL part-time at Grossmont College.
I am happily married to my Hearing wife, Kathy, of 38 years. I have two grown Hearing children in their 40s. My home is in Big Bear. I love showing my Alaskan Malamutes in dog shows. I have produced six AKC Champions and one who has pointed. I also love to travel with my wife to various places.

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Taught American Sign Language (ASL) full-time and part-time (nights) for 39 years, just recently retired from full-time teaching. I have primarily used Signing Naturally (SN) workbooks, all levels. I have also used Learning American Sign Language (LASL).
Currently, I am teaching Deaf Culture as an online course at San Diego Mesa College.
I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside. I have received valuable experience from Deaf peers of Deaf parents, Deaf adults and Deaf leaders. In this sense, I am a native user of ASL and ASL Fingerspelled Signs.
Graduated from Gallaudet College (University) in Washington, D.C. with a B.S. in Business Administration. I received two Masters degrees from California State University, Northridge, one in Deaf Education and the other in Educational Administration. I received my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from University of Southern California (USC).
With all the experience and education that I have acquired, my objective is to provide motivated students a very good foundation to learn and use ASL. This means enhanced receptive and expressive skills that all of you will exhibit. Also, my other objective is to make this experience enjoyable for you.
