I began teaching and performing improvisational theatre almost 20 years ago in New York City for one of the longest running improv companies in the country, Freestyle Repertory Theatre. I have taught thousands of students from every socio-economic background, age and ability, from CEO's of multibillion dollar companies to students in title one school residencies. My belief: improvisation is for everyone and the skills taught go beyond theatre. Currently I'm finishing my master's in educational psychology and can provide links to studies showing the positive effect improvisational theatre can have on students self-concept and their ability to listen, synthesize and collaborate with others. It can even reduce cortisol levels....no lie. It's spontaneity and acceptance makes everyone better! My teaching philosophy is unconditional positive regard and respect for my students and a desire to impart the fun of improv into the scene of Life. Even if you don't take my class try saying "yes, and..." more and always make others look good!
