Well-versed in voice, music theory, popular song styles and poetic writing, I have helped many singers and songwriters to sing and/or compose with skill and confidence in a style that is natural and unique to them. I teach voice at AMDA (Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) to singers, dancers actors. I studied voice and jazz arranging at Berklee College of Music, and then earned my Master's of Music degree in music composition from Cal State LA. I have sung pop, jazz and theatre music in Los Angeles, New York, and across the US and Canada. I've appeared on the Jay Leno Show, and have sung in many local music venues, such as the Troubadour and Luna Park, and have won multiple awards for my songs in internationally acclaimed "I HATE MUSICALS" - a short film musical (now on iTunes). My musical theatre works has been been presented in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. I am a proud member of CMASH, a composer collective in San Francisco, and I collaborate with Ann Moss, Liam Wade, and Arnold Margolin. My song Practice Your Flamenco was recently recorded at George Lucas' Skywalker Sound, and will be featured on Ann Moss's new CD, Currents. *** Lesson Details *** I like to think of my teaching style as 'serious fun'. As a teacher and coach, I want to inspire you to learn skills and songs that help to develop your authentic musical identity. My lessons always include a warm-up, song study and performance. I will, if you prefer, help you choose songs, as well as transpose any song to fit your voice type and range. If you are inquisitive about songwriting, or music theory, I can definitely be a guide in those areas as well. *** Studio Equipment *** Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Finale *** Travel Equipment *** Guitar, keyboard. *** Specialties *** Musical Theatre, Folk, Indie-Rock, Jazz; Belting, developing passagio.

Weslie is great! Weslie has helped me tremendously with music theory. She is really good at listening and figuring out specific areas that I needed help with. She even took time on the side outside of our lessons to listen to music examples I sent her and analyzed them for me. Weslie is patient and makes learning fun. Her teaching environment is comfortable and she's flexible with her schedule. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher!

Weslie is a great mentor and teacher Weslie has been able to open my eyes to what my voice really sounds like into the "musical world" in terms of technicality. While also been able to make me a better singer already. We have been working on one of my favorite songs, and there's so much I've learned from her in terms of playing the guitar and understanding how the chords are built and interfere into the overall senses of the song. I would recommend Welsie to any person that has passion in music and is willing to take the classes seriously in terms of a good learning pace and content, because I believe that she is one of the best out there in LA.
