Hello! I teach guitar lessons to beginners and intermediate students. I'm unique in that I apply proven learning techniques and concepts backed by cognitive psychology and neuroscience to learning the guitar. (These concepts apply to learning anything as they are universal). This will help you learn material easier, faster, and deeper and be able to retrieve it from long-term memory much more reliably. I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and have had many lessons. I know what works and what doesn't. I also know guitar/music theory which can help you immensely if you're interested. I look forward to meeting you helping you become the guitarist you want to be!

I'm a patient and thoughtful teacher that matches your needs and goals to the lessons you'll receive. I use advanced learning techniques based on cognitive psychology and neuroscience which means you'll learn faster, more accurately, and be able to remember more of what you learn! I create unique visualizations to help you understand the fretboard faster and more clearly. I teach mainly rock and blues but can teach most other styles to beginners.

Over the past few years, I’ve been through dozens of You Tube and other online instructional guitar videos but have not made much progress.  I find guitar very difficult because it's awkward to hold and play and the variations are like INFINITE.  If you want to get good, you need a teacher -and it takes many hours to find the right video and teacher.  Save yourself time and go with one of the better online guitar teachers you will find.

I was looking for personalized instruction versus learning on my own and heard that Wayne was unique;   he brings in a more cognitive learning approach – basically a routine which “sticks” with the student vs. easily forgotten in our memory.   I forget easily but his approach simplifies learning for me in that I learn step by step and what is needed first to get to the next level.  I am easing in versus rushing in.

I did my first lesson in June 2020 and in just 10 weeks of doing one lesson per week (with practice from what he sends me),  I’ve learned the basics of music theory, from basic strumming patterns and finger technique to rhythm, melody and tempo, to scales, bar chords, and a few of my favorite songs.  He sends me follow up material after each lesson – including some of his own fundamental music theory videos which have saved me time from surfing online.   The online Zoom has worked well because he can share his desktop and show me the notes written and live on a split screen – finger by finger and chord by chord. 

I’m learning the fundamentals much better through Wayne’s approach.  For now, my simple goal is playing  songs on the acoustic in front of friends and family – and I can do that right now!
