Hi, I'm Wankun, a college student at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Although I'm not totally experienced in teaching (one year), my passion with music is strong; I believe I can be a great teacher.
My whole life is filled with music. I started piano lessons since I was 5. After I moved to America (I was born in China) I had some violin lessons. In freshman year I joined school band. I'm still in band, playing flute in marching band and oboe in wind ensemble.
Music is an expression. It can be happy and light, or dramatical and full of sorrow. We need basic skills to approach a sound, but music is more than that. Music is when you give a sound a meaning, a feeling, and a heartbeat that makes it alive.
Different genre speaks and expresses differently. Personally I really enjoy indie (TØP!) and musicals. But no matter what, all kinds of music are beautiful and it's the meaning that matters the most.
I look forward to teach you the basic skills and share my journey of exploring music with you!
Please understand that I'll only travel within NYC. I will not travel to New Jersey.
Passed with distinction (90%+).
When I first knew Wankun, I was amazed by her passion and talent in music. I know for sure that she is a great pianolist, violinist and a lot others. It is enjoyable and pleasing to hear beautiful rhythm coming out from her fingers.
