Trumpet with Walter C.

I am a professional musician, composer, and educator. I graduated from Michigan State University with my B.M. and M.M. in Jazz Studies. In my time at MSU I had the opportunity to interact with over 200 students from all around the state of Michigan. As a trumpet player, I specialize in teaching brass but also have extensive experience teaching improvisation, music theory, composition, and arranging. I have been performing on trumpet since 2010, in many musical settings. Currently I am on staff with the Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra in Orlando, Florida in the trumpet section. Additionally, I am the lead trumpet fellow in the Gathering Orchestra in Detroit, MI. I have recorded professionally with various groups including The Verve Pipe. My focus as a teacher is to give students the tools to play the instrument without incurring any bodily harm as brass can often be taxing. I prefer to take steps to build solid fundamentals that make playing trumpet an enjoyable experience. I am comfortable teaching various styles including Salsa, Jazz, R&B, Funk, Folk, and Country.
