- Teaches students:
- Ages 5+ and special needs
- Teaching since:
I am a musician and producer. I use Ableton, Maschine, and Logic Pro X to make beats under my own name and to record and mix for others in almost every style. I just completed my MA in Music, Science, and Technology at Stanford and am eager to help musicians/producers acquire or sharpen the skills necessary to create great music!
As you are looking for lessons online, I am sure you that are aware of the vast array of free tutorials on youtube and other sites. Learning this way is great, but it can often be difficult to find the answer to your question quickly. I have 5 years of studio/production experience, along with almost 10 years teaching experience, so I can troubleshoot and explain all issues you may come across within just a few minutes.
Before completing my MA at Stanford, I lived in Los Angeles for 5 years and played in rock, pop, hip hop, and jazz groups as a saxophonist/keyboardist. Before that, I received my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Saxophone Performance from UC Irvine, where I studied instrumental performance, improvisation, composition, Western music yheory and jazz harmony. I have taught lessons and tutored privately for the past 10 years.
I love making music Ableton Live because it allows you to do some really creative things very quickly and easily; this includes sampling, time-stretching/warping, re-pitching, side-chaining, etc. I can also teach Logic Pro X or Maschine 2 if you are interested.
All lessons will be tailored to the student’s individual goals and they will pair conceptual understanding with case-by-case examples. We can study:
-getting comfortable in any Digital Audio Workstation
-getting creative in Ableton
-recording and microphone techniques
-form/structure of any particular style
-compression and side-chaining
-music theory and harmony
I can teach online via the takelessons.com platform, or students can come to my home studio in San Francisco.
