Gospel Singing with W. Trey D.

Wilford “Trey” Davis, III was born in Houston, TX to prominent Houston area musicians Wilford and Wanda Davis. After graduating from Willowridge High School, he attended Texas Southern University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre/Cinema. Trey served as Minister of Music of New Covenant Christian Church in Houston, TX, under the leadership of Bishop Bill & Co-Pastor Cheryl Hines for 14 years. Moreover, it was at New Covenant where he was licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel. He also has fifteen years of experience as an educator in the Houston & Fort Bend Independent School Districts, as well as Stafford Municipal School District, where he taught sixth grade Math and Technology. He is also the Lead Pastor and Planter of The Experience Church in Pearland, TX. For twenty-five years, Trey has been heavily involved in music ministry. He has served as accompanist and music director for various gospel artists such as Jackie Smith and Y.D.M. (Youth Development Ministry), Kathy Taylor, Women of Integrity, V. Michael McKay, the late Minister Ronald James Materre, and the late Dr. Theola Booker. He is also featured on the latest project of SGR Recording Artist, “Alkendria.” In 2009, Trey felt a burden weighing heavily upon him to reach out to churches and ministries who were in dire need of ministers of music, musicians, and worship leaders. Through this burden, he launched “God’s Best Consulting” Music Ministry and Referral Services. This consulting firm assists pastors and church leaders by eliminating the stresses of unsuccessful attempts to hire musicians that would appropriately fit their ministries. Trey auditions, screens, and refers musicians for positions in local churches as well as churches outside of the Houston area. He also uses this service as an opportunity to share wisdom and ministry experiences with aspiring music ministry leaders. Trey is married to LaToya C. Davis, and is the father of two daughters, Meghan Elyse and Kirstyn Naomi.
