Music has been the focal point of my life for as long as I can remember. I received my first piano (toy) at the tender age of 1 and started playing piano by ear at the age of 3. I continued down that path for a while and also started singing in choir until my parents could afford lessons. When I was 10, I began taking piano lessons and things just took off from there. When it was time to go to High School, I got involved in multiple choirs, theatre in school and continue my community theatre, I was writing music, and taking theory and I also began to teach lessons to beginner piano students. After High School, I went to Concordia College (NY) for Vocal Performance and began studying voice. I was very strict in my opera studies for most of my 4.5 years on campus and branched off during my last year to focus on music education, music theory, and piano. I graduated in 2004 with a bachelors degree in Music. Through the years to follow, I continued to teach both piano and voice privately and through various camps and music schools. I then went on to get a masters degree from Mercy College in education (elementary, middle and special) in 2008. Music is my passion and I love to share it with the world. I hope to be able to do that for you! *** Lesson Details *** When you are taking lessons with me, expect to not only learn but also have FUN! I am very laid back and want to make sure that you are getting the most out of the lessons. I know that sometimes practicing is not your favorite activity...trust me, I've been there. However, we will come up with a plan that makes learning and practicing fun, and educational. After 3-6 months with me...you will have learned all the basics of either piano, voice, theory, or theatre and we will have been able to move forward to more exciting things like learning to play your favorite piece, sing your favorite song from the radio, learn a monologue, or start composing a song . The basics are so important and are necessary to learn, but I promise to make it exciting and we will work together to make it and enjoyable experience for you! *** Studio Equipment *** Suzuki Digital Piano *** Travel Equipment *** None unless specified by student. *** Specialties *** I like to dabble in just about everything.
